Title: The Five Fools to Watch Out For
Contributor: Dr. Derrick Whitt
Jehovah is no longer pulling any punches when describing certain types of individuals His people should avoid; and the biggest group God cannot tolerate is fools.
Unlike a simple person (a person who is need of moral guidance, though open to evil), the fool is a person who is morally deficient and inclined to do evil.
A. CHARACTERISTICS OF A FOOL
1. No moral absolute
2. Total disregard to authority
3. Total disregard to others
4. Arrogant
5. Proud
6. Lack of self-control
B. Jehovah’s Response (Proverbs 1:20-33)
C. Christ-based individuals (not carnal Christians or church folks)
1. Proverbs 9:8; 26:4 see Matthew 7:6
2. Proverbs 1:10-19, see 1 Corinthians 15:33
3. Proverbs 5:21-23
Note to Christ-based individuals: We can do so much for them. The majority of them, including carnal Christians and church folks, are looking for a pity party or the baby treatment...just so that they can go back and live outside the principles of the Scriptures.
And for those who want to continue in live in foolishness andyou are facing the consequences of the choice of living in foolishness, I like to give you this Wisdom Key: Never Complain About What You Permit.
I. Atheistic Fool (Psalm 14:1 and 53:1)
"The fool says in his heart, ’There is no God.’"
A. Empirical Atheist: A person who feels that he/she cannot put God in a laboratory to prove Him scientifically.
B. Philosophical Fool: Choose to live like He does not exist.
Dr. Derrick’s favortie type of people to deal with, because he likes to catch them at their game on their best day.
If evolution is true, then how come we are mating with the chipanzee, since their are our equal in DNA, capabilities, etc?
If the evolutionary theory of the Big Bang is true, then the nuclear weapons we have should be able to create new life. Right?
Try it sometime! These questions will keep their mouths shut.
II. Materialistic Fool (Luke 12:20-21)
"But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."
A. This person is willing to do whatever to gain more money, including selling himself or herself.
B. This person is willing to sacrifice or betray people who he or she is close to him or her.
C. When ths person dies, this money does not go with the person and, where he or she is going, he or she is not going to use it...and that person cannot buy off Satan.
III. The Wordly Fool (1John 2:15-17)
"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever."
A. He or she may acquire a nice car, home, prestige and great wealth
B. Make it a point to contribute to various charitable organizations
C. Earned respect in the community, but not with God
D. But at death, the community will pay its respect but he is not a good person to God because he or she died in her sins...and those eyes will be opened to the reality of hell!
IV. The Self-Righteous Fool (Luke 18:9-14)
And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
A. Go to church.
B. The person tries to follow the Ten Commandments.
C. Romans 3:10
"None is righteous, no, not one."
Isaiah 64:6
"We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our inquities, like the wind take us away."
D. The only way to be righteous is through Christ whose blood was shed for our sins.
There is one more but I feel I will insult the Christian community, and this is the group of folks I meet constantly, whether in person or online, and I cannot stand them either (but I pray that this will get them very offended so that they can do something about their spiritual condition). But then again, oh well!
V. The Religious Fool (Matthew 23)
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites."
A. Religious people are giving Christianity a bad name because
1. They are alot of hypocrites in congregation
2. The congregations are run by clergy
3. Worry about trivial matters (like what hymn to song, color of the choir robes, etc. )
4. Too much emphasis is on money
5. Too much focus on tradition, man-made doctrine: making it hard for any person to have a relationship with Jehovah
6. When given Scriptural correction, advice or reproof, they get very offended (Mark 6:1-6)
B. Jehovah’s Response (Matthew 7:23)
"I never knew you; depart from me, you evildoers."
C. Sad to say, many church folk and carnal Christians will be facing His judgment. In fact, it has begun (1 Peter 4:17, 18)!
"How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple? How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing and fools hate knowledge? (Proverbs 1:22)"
