2In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; 3But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour ,

3. this is a shared hope with all believers
4. everything is to be understood in relationship to this eternal hope
B. God’s promise was made before the world began
1. God can see complete picture, from creation to end of time
2. God knew He would save us before he created the world
3. God can not lie, therefore His word is true
II. God’s message
A. Came at the proper time
B. Made His word know (manifested)
C. His word (gospel message)
D. Through preaching (proclaiming)
E. Committed (entrusted) to me
1. God not only sent a message, He sent people to tell that message
2. the message a sacred trust given to us all
