Fall Message
Pastor Joe Bachman
Fall is a great time of the year isn’t it?
The cool air after a hot summer
you notice the beautiful colors of the leaves as you travel down the road.
the thoughts of Thanksgiving and the families getting together
with all these wonderful thoughts and colors all around us we have got to keep our minds and hearts focused on Christ.
so how do we do that ?
well let me show you how you can lead someone to Jesus with something as simple as the changing of the seasons
someone may ask you “isn’t the leaves beautiful?”you can respond by saying “Yes it reminds me how much God loves me.” That can lead you right into a conversation about Gods love for them.
or you can even start the conversation that way. You can say, “Doesn’t the leaves look beautiful?” then they will answer “yes” then you can say “it reminds me how much God loves me.”
Now you might be saying right now that’s a find way to start talking about God but how can I lead someone to Christ by using the seasons. Here’s how.
we think about the season we’re in right now Fall
fall is a time of many pretty colored leaves but why do the leaves really change colors?
because they are dying
that’s what we have to do with are old life and our sin
Rom. 5:12 says
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man and death through sin an in this way death came to all men because all sinned.
These pretty but dead leaves then fall off the trees and cover the ground. All of a sudden there not so pretty anymore.
then what happens? winter comes and snow covers the leaves. we then look outside and see the beautiful white snow covering everything.
that’s how it was when Jesus came to earth sin was all over the place with no way to get rid of it. But when Jesus hung on that cruel cross and said “it is finished” then the blood he shed covered all that ugly sin and made it white as snow.
Isa. 1:18 says
Come now let us reason together says the lord though your sins are like scarlet they shall be white as snow though they be red as crimson they shall be like wool.
the trouble we have is that sometimes we let the devil talk us into trying to shovel the snow off the leaves and look at them again.
but guess what once Jesus covers them with his blood there gone never to be remembered again.
then comes the next season in our life that is spring. Spring is a season when new things come alive. that is the same way when Jesus comes into your life he gives you a brand new start you if fact become a new babe in Christ. you become just like this flower it’s alive but it hasn’t fully opened yet you could say it’s a baby flower.
II Cor. 5:17 says
Therefore if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation the old has gone the new has come.
Then comes the next season in your life that is summer.
if you look at that flower now it’s not the same anymore in spring it was closed up real tight now it is open wide and beautiful and the fragrance goes all over the place. and that’s the way our Christian life should be. open so the whole word can see and smell how good God really is.
Matt. 5:16
In the same way let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds and praise your father in heaven.
the problem is sometimes Satan come against us and instead of keeping open we seem to shut back up just like some flowers at night they seem to close back up. but I noticed that when flowers open up in the morning they seem to push back the darkness that’s the way our Christian life should be.
When Satan comes against us we shouldn’t shut up and hide but we should open up and push back the darkness.
So that’s the way you can talk to someone about Christ using the seasons.
FALL- sin-- dead leaves
WINTER- Blood of Christ—Snow
SPRING- New birth—Babe in Christ
SUMMER- Let your life shine—Mature Christian
so as you see in this lesson you can lead someone to Christ but also this lesson is how a Christian should live his lfe.
FALL- Remembering where we came from.
WINTER- Remembering what Christ did for us.
SPRING- Remembering what it means to be a babe in Christ
SUMMER- Remembering that we have to stay in full bloom to
show others the love of Christ.
