IDLE-NESS
PROVERBS 6:1-15
Are you idling tonight???
Are you living falsely??
If you are then I have bad news for you tonight!!
YOU AIN’T THE ONLY ONE!!!
There are three types of people in this world!!!
1-Those who don’t know whats happening!
2-Those who only watch what’s happening!
3-Then there’s those who make things happen!!
Wise people make things happen!!!
Wise people take the BULL BY THE HORNS!!
When a problem arises – they take action!
Wise People are always waiting and
praying and seeking God – and ready for
any problem that could occur!!

We are not to be lazy and here in Proverbs
It’s warning us about Idleness and laziness!!
It’s calling lazy people sluggards!
A slug is a slimy creature that has no shell
And crawls very slowly and has no direction!
Do you want to be lazy and live in poverty
And go through life with no direction???
GOD DON’T WANT THIS FOR YOU!!!
And never have anything to show for your life??
God wants you to be productive in this life!!!
Remember the parable of the talents in
The book of Matthew.
How the Lord gave five talents
(five million in gold) to one and he
Gained five and the other He gave two
talents and he Gained two more.
Remember how the Lord was upset with the
One that received one talent and never
Reaped or Gained any because He knew the Lord was A Hard Man??
The Lord said thou wicked and slothful servant
Thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not
And gather where I have not strewed!
So The Lord took it from Him and gave it
To the one who had ten talents!!!
So how long are you going to Laze around and
Do nothing with your talents!!
Church this will affect every part of your lives!!!
You’ll be affected Mentally, Physically
Socially, Emotionally, Spiritually, and it’ll
Result in your lives being un-fulfilled
And the potential that was un-realized
Will be catastrophic!!!!
Laziness cause’s more damage than you
Can possibly imagine!!!
PROVERBS 19:24 PUTS IT LIKE THIS:
A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom
And will not so much as bring it to his mouth again!
I’ve known people that are to ornery
to feed themselves
That’s getting pretty bad!!!!!
This is all very humorous and probably exaggerated
Somewhat but its so very true.
Listen what Proverbs 26:14 says
As the door turneth upon his hinges
So doth the slothful upon his bed!!!
This is talking about someone who is lazy
Going nowhere – wasting his life away!!!!
We have to work Church – Work for the Lord!
I have known people just since I have lived
Here in Ohio, that are extremely Lazy,
I don’t have much for anyone who wont work.
One kid that comes to mind has had every good
Job in Northwest Ohio.
And on every new job the next thing you know
He calls in and is just to lazy to work!!!!
Then he doesn’t have a job anymore!!!
You gotta love em!!!
Matthew 11:28 says
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are
Heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
You see it don’t say all you lazy people come
To me and I will take care of you – does it?
It’s talking about people that work and Labor!!
PSALMS 132:4 SAYS
I will not give sleep to mine eyes
Or slumber to mine eyelids!!!
People we gotta take action!!!!
Then the lazy person will say why should we??
Its so much easier to sit and complain or they
Point their finger and put the blame on someone else!
Why would we take action - when we can blame
Someone else – we’ll blame our Dad or Mom
Or our Husband or our Wife or our Brother or Sister
Or Friends or our Supervisor or
Our Teacher, or Pastor, or the Evangelist, or the Government, Or Worst of all GOD!!!
How about we blame something on the DEVIL???
If you want to live right tonight
LIVE FOR GOD!!!! It ain’t gonna be downhill
All the way!!!!! Its an up-hill battle!!!!!
But its gonna be worth the hard ride!!!!!
There will be gates of pearl, walls of Jasper
Streets of pure gold and an ever flowing
River of Life!
Before you can build a bridge to improve
Your life you have to move the Barrier walls!!
Let the Bible lead you and
Give you understanding about life!!!!!
We presume to much about tomorrow.
Don’t assume anything or make any plan
About tomorrow!!!
Because we don’t have any promise of it!!!
JAMES 4:13 & 14 SAYS
Go to now, ye that say, today or tomorrow
We will go into such a city, and continue
There a year. And buy and sell, and get gain.
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the
Morrow. For what is your life?
It is even a vapor, that appeareth for
A little time, and then vanisheth away!!!!
You don’t need to be bragging about how much
Money your gonna save.
You can’t brag about where you’re
Thinking about going on vacation or what we are
Gonna do next month or next year!!!
We don’t know what tomorrow holds
Or do We even want to know??
There’s one thing for certain, God don’t
Want us to know!!!!
If you could go back in time, would you
even want to know what was going to happen
daily up to now???
It would be so overwhelming to us!!!
We would worry ourselves to death
About everything that’s gonna happen
Tonight, tomorrow, next week, next month
And next year!!!!
Our spirit has no worries but our flesh has a tendency to worry or be anxious about tomorrow!!!
You have to live one day at a time.
Don’t be in a panic about tomorrow.
We don’t have the promise of seeing the
sun go down Today!!!
Just because you worry about tomorrow –
That don’t mean that you can do anything
About it anyway!!!!!
Think about it for a minute!
You’re trying to assume God’s responsibility,
And it wasn’t intended for you!!!
Don’t ruin today trying to be in control of
Something that may not even be here
TOMORROW!!!
My Mom was the worst worry wart of all
She would get her SS Check and have all
Kinds of little slips of paper adding up
What she thought she would have left and worry.
The Bible says – Take no thought for the
morrow – for the Morrow shall take
thought for the things of itself!!
Just live today and live for God
One day at a time!!
Don’t wait for the right time or the
Right condition for ANYTHING!!
Don’t procrastinate until tomorrow.
If we wait until tomorrow we will
Never get anything done!!!!
The crop wont grow if the farmer waits on
Perfect weather to plant
You will never know love if you are waiting
On the perfect relationship!
If your waiting on the perfect time to have
A child- guess what then you’ll never have one!!
If your waiting on the perfect church to attend
Guess what you ain’t gonna find it!!
And if you ain’t perfect then you wouldn’t
Fit in anyway!!!!
Are you waiting on the perfect Pastor?
You ain’t gonna find him either!!!
Preachers if you are waiting on the
Perfect congregation guess what
NO SUCH THING!!!
If your waiting on the perfect car guess what
They don’t make one!!!
When GOD speaks to you and tells you to do
Something, DO YOU WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW
NO!!! YOU DO IT NOW!!!!!
WE HAVE TO DELIVER!!!!!!
AND OBEY GOD TODAY AND NOW!!!
Do you think your life is lacking in performance or
In Diligence, or in Discipline???
Or is your life fruitful like the book of John
Chapter 15 Is recommending??
Are you the true vine or are you withering???
The way that I read it, if your withering
And not bearing the fruit that God is looking for,
It says you will be gathered and cast into the fire!!!
PROVERBS 24:33&34 SAYS:
Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding
Of the hands to sleep;
So shall thy poverty come as one that traveleth
And thy want as an armed man.
OH POVERTY!!
Do you spend more money than you have
And then say tomorrow I gotta get on a budget??
But tomorrow then never comes!!!!
Do you fill your time with people and then never
Tend to your own life??
This is being a sluggard!!!!
We have to be self motivated and know the
Importance of what we want!!!
Staying in prayer is the first thing we have to do!!
Next we have to keep pushing ourselves and
Get the JOB DONE!!!
We have to have a plan of attack and then stick
With that plan!!!!
MICAH 2;1 SAYS
Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work
Evil upon their beds!
When the morning is light, they practice it,
Because it is in the power of their hand!!
You see its totally in your hands!!!!!
We should work hard and joyfully and for
The Glory of God at whatever we do!!!
If you are painting, or gardening, or a doctor or a lawyer or if you are cleaning
Toilets, do it for the Glory of God!!!!!
And be the best you can be!!
We have been bought by the blood of Christ!!!!
Jesus paid the highest dollar for us!!
Listen to four things that Christ wants us to do!!!
And I’m gonna get outta here!!!
First leave a great legacy which is LOVE!
1st Corinth 13:13 says
and now abideth Faith, Hope, Charity, these three;
but the greatest of these is charity!
Work hard on building relationships.
ROMANS 12:18 SAYS:
If it be possible, as much as lieth in you,
Live peaceably with all men.
We know keeping peace is hard because it
Takes a lot of time and effort!
But you’ll find its worth it in the long run!!!
Second
Work hard at working hard!!!!
God expects us to work hard – by the sweat
of our brow the bible says!!!
It also reflects good character!!!
PROVERBS 14:23 SAYS
In all labor there is profit: but the talk
Of the lips tendeth only to penury!! (or poverty)
Life is not supposed to be easy, and hard
Work is necessary. MAKE YOUR BOSS PROUD!!
Third
Work hard at keeping yourself healthy.
1st Corinth 6:19-20 says
What? Know ye not that your body is the temple
Of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which
Ye have of God, and ye are not your own!
For ye are bought with a price: therefore
Glorify God in your body, and in your spirit
Which are GOD’S!!!
CHURCH TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOURSELF!
GOD doesn’t want you to put impurities in
Your body!!!
You should’nt smoke, Drink, or abuse your
Body in any way.
IT is the temple of the Holy Ghost!!!
Listen what GOD is saying about you
And your BODY
And YOUR HEALTH!!!
IT ALL BELONGS TO GOD. – NOT YOU!!!
FOURTH
Take control of handling your money matters!
God has given us instruction about the right use
Of money!!!
He expects faithfulness in our money handling
Whether we have a little or a lot!!!
LUKE the Physician 16:10,11,12 SAYS;
He that is faithful in that which is least is
Faithful also in much: and he that is unjust
In the least is unjust also in much
If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to
Your trust the true riches?
And if ye have not been faithful in that which
Is another man’s, who shall give you that
Which is your own?
If you have any money in this life, don’t be Boastful or Proud of it, or trust in it because you will not take it with you. And it wont get you to heaven!!
If you are gonna trust in something tonight,
TRUST IN GOD!!!!!
1st Timothy tells us to be rich in good works
and give generously to those in need!!!
GOD is not un-fair!!!!
So I ask you not to be un-fair!!!!!
Take charge of your spiritual lives tonight!!!!
Live for God and not for the world!
Always remember that Bro. Blackburn loves you
And Always remember that GOD LOVES YOU!!!!!
MAKE YOUR INVESTMENT WITH GOD!
Be RICH TOWARD GOD TONIGHT!!
The interest that you’ll earn will be AMAZING!!
Are you ready for God tonight??
Come to the altar because God is ready for you!
Are you spiritually healthy tonight?
Or are you rusting down spiritually?
Come to the altar and re-dedicate your life to GOD!!
OR ARE ANY SICK AMOUNG YOU?
Let him call for the elders of the church, let them pray over him, annointing him with oil in
The Name of The Lord!
Matt. 7:7 says:
Ask and it shall be given you;
Seek, and ye shall find;
Knock, and it shall be opened unto you!!
