God’s word will divide you up---
Spirit from soul
Why? your soul has a past, Your spirit has a future
Too many people--- Think their past is bigger than their future—
That identity----keeps us from becoming what we already are
A broken heart, can keep us from realizing—God has healed us
We keep things in----Hold things in
Anger, Bitterness, Heartbreak, Rejection,
Why is there such failure in areas of:
Friendships, Marriage, Parenting
All of that baggage is still in us
My Husband drives me crazy, you went crazy when you couldn’t forgive
My wife don’t understand me- No you didn’t understand why your dad left
My husband doesn’t love me like he should—You’ve never known love-
I don’t have patience w/ my kids—neither did your parents
Those are hang- ups---preventing the healing of your hearts
Proverbs 4:23
Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.
When times get hard—it’s not wives fault, husbands fault
It’s your fault—for letting your past be bigger than your future
What comes out of your heart---IS ONLY WHAT”S IN IT
Tea bag- Illustration
Drop a teabag in some hot water, and wait for the tea to spread
Make sure glass is clear
It’s not the water’s fault that it turned brown---it’s what’s in the bag
If the tea taste bad, don’t blame water, change the tea bag
How can you heal this broken heart of yours?
1. Realize it wasn’t God
2. Forgive
3. Share the love- that you didn’t get
1. Realize it wasn’t God---Job 1: 6-20
There are statements that are truly spoken
But that doesn’t make the statement true—
I could say ____wronged me, I could say______is the meanest guy I know
While I say that with conviction… doesn’t make it true
God remove his hedge from Job,
Everything after that, Was all SATAN
God does not take things away----HE LOVES YOU
God did not give and take away- He gave Satan took it away
We react the same---When bad happens---separate from God
When more happens----Blame ourselves----“I DESERVED IT”
Why would God “allow” babies to die, tornadoes, earthquakes, serial killers, holocausts, wars, drive-by shootings, rape, hate crimes, bankruptcy, cancer, and sudden, fatal accidents?
When we see this it makes us think God is mean! BUT HEY--LIFE HAPPENS
“Most Christians” wanna talk about Jesus DYING
HE DIED FOR YOU BROTHER!!!!!!
Most folks just see the death side of Jesus!
Yeah he died but “WHY?”
So I didn’t have to
To overcome the grave
To set me free
To send the Holy Spirit
To change the world
Changing your view of what he has done---
WON”T LEAVE YOU WONDERING WHAT HE WILL DO
God weighlayed People in OT—Has he changed
No---He punished those people for their actions
He Punished Jesus for yours…. Somebody had to be punished
They paid one by one- Jesus Paid once for all
Seen this nonsense at funerals----God forbid someone get saved
2. Forgive- Matthew 18:21-35
If you want your heart to heal…must forgive
“They don’t deserve to be forgiven”…probably not
NEITHER DID YOU….but you were….ARE YOU GOD
Some say, “YOU haven’t forgiven ‘til you forget.”
Don’t believe that church….some pain you’ll never forget
We have been pardoned of a great debt…return the favor
3. Share the love you didn’t get- Acts 10:37-39
We complain about—what happened to us
Turn around do the same thing to someone else
If it has hurt you so much, then let it stop with you
I’ve realized this week, part of my calling
The healing you need, may be in watching someone else be healed.
Never forget that God is on Your side, And He’s ready to heal your broken Heart
