The Ram will be Provided
Text: Gen. 22:1-
Introduction:
A. Abraham the spiritual traveler
Abraham is an wonderful character study for us, and is important because he was chosen of God to become the father of a new spiritual people (You and I) Seeds were planted in his
heart from which were to spring wonderful results for all future blessings (You & I)
We see that he had a divine call on his life, he was living with his father and he received a messages from the Lord, that he was to separate himself from his old association and go to a new country.
He was promised God’s favor, great prosperity and he would become a blessing to all the families of the earth. How many know this makes for a great study!
Well you have to do it on your own! I have and I want to share on a story that I done of Abraham character life in which God has asked Abraham in which God asked him to offer .up his son Isaac as a sacrifice.
Text: Gen. 22: 1-14 Pray
Body:
A. Abraham
Has been obedience to the call that God has put on his life, it has not been easy, even through God has bless him in many ways!
1.He has left his family, friends the comfort of home, the sercuity that he had in the land that they live at.
2. He has seen how God brought Lot out of the judgment that fell on Sodom and Gomorrah as a result of his prayer of intercession.
He has wavered on the promises of a son, taking the matter into his own hands by listening to his wife and taking her servant which bore him a son named Ishmael, who he thought would be the one to fulfill God’s promises and covenant.
And we pick up and look at his life as he is tested once again on his faith in God.
It’s a very familiar story for many of us, But I truly believe there is something here that I believe that God would have us to see!
Let’s look at v. 1 “ Sometime later God tested Abraham!
1.Abraham had his son born, he has come to love him! He was proud of his son! He was on the mountain top of the blessing of God!
And here comes a test! Can I get a witness to that!
It would be a spiritual test! A test of Abraham’s faith, trust, and obedience in God.
As we look at this as I said I believe that the Lord has shown me something that I had never really seen before. vv. 3-5
I as well as some of you have looked at this and marveled at Abraham’s faith! As he tells his servants to wait and that he and Isaac were going on to worship the Lord, “And we will be back” I looked at that and all I could say is WOW! What faith Abraham had!
For as he told the servants to wait he already knew that he had to offer up Isaac on the altar as a sacrifice to God. Yet he had enough faith to say the lad and I will be back!(WOW)
Imagine yourselves in Abraham’s place. But again I think the Lord has some else for us to look at!
Let’s look at v. 5 “Stay here with the donkey”
I have looked at this before and never really thought much about this verse
Why did Abraham tell his servants to wait?
Why did the Spirit of God lead Abraham to instruct his servants to wait?
Again I don’t have any scriptures to base this on, so I ask you to judge this in your spirit.
As I looked at this, why would he ask his servants to wait I began to think on reasons of why Abraham told them to wait.
2.The two Servants
a. Not much is said about the two servants of Abraham. We are not even told their names or how long they had served Abraham.
But, you know me! I am always saying I can imagine, or I put myself in the time period of the story. So again I say perhaps I have no way to base what I want to share but that I truly think this is what God has shown me.
Perhaps this servants had been with Abraham all a long, they had seen what Abraham had gone through the past years they has seen how had struggled at times to keep his faith in God’s promises. They had seen how God had kept his promises and had as well as Abraham come to love his son Isaac.
And as Abraham came to the place of where God had directed him to offer up Isaac on the altar, perhaps Abraham thought, this servant of mine love Isaac also and they will not understand what God has asked me to do!
Again I think that perhaps Abraham himself even though he had spoken in faith, the lad and I are going to worship and shall come back, there was still was questions in his mind
have I truly heard God in this and if not question at least evils spirit telling him don’t do it!
Why would you kill your son of promise, his only son! Who is going to be your heir, who is going to carry on your seed!
So Abraham thought this servants of mine love Isaac as much as I do! Surely they will try to stop me and I am afraid that they may just talk me out of doing this!
Now again imagine you are one of the servants, your two masters whom have provided for you, taken care of you and your families, one is over a 100 yr old and his son, the one who would take over for his father when he dies who would carry on Abraham’s blessings, who would inherit all! You have watch Abraham prepare the altar, place the stones in place, gather the wood and along your wondering what is this old man going to offer up to God he has forgotten the lamb! You seen him do this many times before, but there is no animals around to offer as a sacrifice!
And all of sudden Abraham takes hold of Isaac, bind him up and all this thoughts are running through your mine “What in the world is this old man doing has he lost his mind!
We got to stop him! Stop Abraham!
I think Abraham knew this, because he had seen the love they had for his son! And he knew that they would try to talk him out of doing this!
Don’t Abraham! What are you doing! Are you sure this is what God will is!
Why two servants? Why were they asked to wait? Again just my thoughts!
Every time God wants or ask us to do something for Him something will arise up to get you
stop from meeting God’s will for your life!
3.Perhaps the two Servants represented
1.Friends saved and unsaved
They will question your desire to serve God, your w illness to live in faith, to trust God, to be obedience to follow God’s direction for your life!
Families v. 7
2.They represented the Flesh and spiritual evil forces
Jesus said the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak!
The flesh is a general references to man’s carnal nature!
Rom. 7:18 “I know that nothing good live in me that is, in my sinful nature”
Rom. 8:8 “Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God!”
The flesh, carnality will keep you from doing the will of God! Keep you from doing what God has called you to do! It will keep you from the imtinacy God wants with you!
Spiritual evil forces! Demonic influences!
1.Tempting us to disobediences
2.Slandering of the saints
Job 1:9 “Does Job fear God for nothing” In other words why is Job serving God!
All that has happen to him and he still serve God!
3. Inflecting diseases
Job 2:7 So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the top of his head.
4.Tempting Christ Matt. 4:1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by evil!
If the Father allowed his Son to be tempted, what makes us think we will not!
Yet Jesus sin not! Jesus 100% man He show us we can too! By the power of the Holy Spirit!
The two servants – friends, families save and unsaved! You can’t do that!
Surely God has not told you to do that! They think they are being helpful, but keep you, talk you into not doing the will of God for your life!
Your flesh, your carnal nature wanting only to satisfy the desire of the flesh that lead to sin!
Keep us from the closeness God wants with us! Rob us from the will of God in our lives, family, and ministry!
Spiritual forces bring oppression into our lives!
Worry, sickness, doubt, lust,
Abraham tell the two servants to wait! Stay here, I don’t want you to try to stop me, discourage me from trusting God, I don’t want you too sway me from my faith, from my obedience to God!
It’s time for you and I to tell whatever is trying to keep you from doing God will to wait!
Your back there in my past! I am a new creature in Christ Jesus!
vv. 7-10
Isaac knows what his Father is doing!
He had seen his father worship God, he had seen his faith, trust and obedience in God!
A. Your children know when you are worshiping God, they know your faith, trust and obedience in God.
He knew what was to be done his father had been a sample for him.
“Father the fire and the wood are here, but is the lamb for the burnt offering?”
Do your children know that you are a worshiper? Do they know what is required for worship?
1.Salvation in the name of Jesus!
2.The need to grow in your walk with the Lord!
Through prayer, the Word, Church attendance, your giving, services and the most important you life style day to day!
B. Abraham was a worshiper, he was faithful, obedience, trusted God.
1.We see here that even in difficult sitiution he was willing to worship God.
a. He was giving up his son! Can you imagine how hard that must have been!
This leads me to the next thing that I had not seen in this before!
1.We seen the two servants were told to stay away, wait, and why?
2.I see that Abraham no matter how difficulties, the circumstances were he was willing to trust, obeyed and hold on to his faith in God!
a. For many we never get this close! The altar and wood was ready, the son was on the altar, the knife was in his hand and lifted up ready to be trusted into his son!
Abraham was faithful to the very point of where the knife was about to come down and slaying his son!
What faith! What trust! What a wiliness to be obedience! What a sacrifice to worship!
We sing song of how we bring a sacrifice of praise!
But I think God would say to the Churches, you and I, you don’t even know what it means you don’t even begin to understand what it means to offer up a sacrifices worship to him!
For many today a sacifical worship or offering is:
At least I got to up and went to church today!(OUCH!)
At least I read my Bible when the preacher said turn too!
For many it a sacifical offering just to carry a Bible to church!
I believe God is saying to you and I do you, are you willing to go to the mountain top!
How many know it takes a lot of work to walk up to the mountain top!
Abraham had to walk up to the mountain top! But he didn’t stop there, it tell us that he had to built the altar, gather the wood!
God is saying many don’t ever make it to the mountain top much less built an altar!
And the reason they don’t the two servants are walking all the way up with them!
a. friends, families, flesh, and demonic forces! And I will add two more here that I God has show me murring and complaining!
Have you got to that place where that on the mountain top, where the knife is on it way down!
Too many quit before they ever get to the mountain!
What sacrifices are you trying to offer God!
1.I go to church one day out the week!
2.I pray and most of it is for myself needs
3.I worship on Sunday morning!
4.I give, some give their tithes, but it is like giving a sacrifices instead of knowing that they belong to God and you have not giving anything if all they have given is tithes!
But God says to you and i I don’t want your burnt offering, your sacrificial worship!
I Sam. 15:22 But Samuel replied does the Lord delight in burn offering and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the Lord? To obey is better than sacficie and to heed is better than fat of ram.
Psa. 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart, O god you will not despise.
God is saying I could care less in your formalism, traditional worship, I want heart that is in repentance and a humble spirit!
And because we let the two servants:friends, families, flesh, evil spirits, murring and complains, we never come even close to the place of complete trust, faith and obediences in God’s call, guidance and propose for our life!
What keeping you from the mountain top, what keeping you from ever coming close enough to trust God, have faith, be in obedience to what God is calling you to do or go through!
Ok let’s look at the results
Once again many have read this before and you know that Abraham was about to slay his son, and the angel of the Lord stop him.
And because of it we know that Abraham was faithful! He is the father of faith! And we are blessed because Abraham passed his test of faith! And for so many we stop there!
But think we need to look a little farther! And I think if we get a hold of this it will change our lives forever! vv. 10-14
Now to get the understanding I believe that God has show me and I want to share with you
we have to once again look at Abraham life, his call, his journey that leads us to this portion of the scriptures!
Abraham called to leave the comforts of home, family, friends and he begin his journey he leaves he heads towards a land, that God has promises to him, he would have a child that would carry on his seed and he would be blessed beyond his imagination!
Yet on the way to the mountain top, circumstances began to cause him to question if he had heard God right! Things that caused him to question his faith in God, his trust in God, his obedience to go on to what God had called him to fulfill his purpose, his reason to be born!
And through it all that happened that try to stop him we find by looking at Abraham life, that Abraham push on to meet God’s call on his life! Many of us have let the two servants talk us out of going on!
Look at v. 13 “Abraham look up and there in thicket he saw a ram caught by it’s horns”
v.14 says “Abraham called that place Jehovah-Jeri h – or the Lord will provides
Now listen to me because you will miss it! I have read this story a few times over and I have missed, I believe God has given me a rema word for you and I.
“Abraham called that place” 3x What place? For many we think that place is the thickets
the region of Moria h, that mountain top God had told Abraham to go too!
But I believe I think again this is what I think God has let me see and to show you again judge it on your own. “That place”
Abraham called that place”
I think that place is at the end of what ever has led you to the mountain top!
All your trials, tribulation, troubles, temptation, great times, bad times whatever your life has been deal with.
God is allowing it to bring you to that place! What place? Where you will not give in to the two servants, trying to talk you out of your faith, trust, obedience to God.
I believe to many times to many people never make it to the mountain top because of friends, families, flesh, evil spirits, murring and complaining stop us from that place!
What place?
Abraham called it Jehovah-Jeri h – the Lord will provide! 2X
The Ram was provides, so that Abraham was not stopped from his worship of God!
The offering was provided! Tell someone “When you get to that place” 2x
What place? Complete trust in God, faith in God obedience no matter what the cost!
You see that place Abraham was at was that the knife was on it way down to slay his son!
What in the world are saying pastor? Well I glad you asked!
As I have said to many never make it to the mountain top! Too many give up, they listen to the two servants, just as the Spirit of God is about to say Yes! Yes! He was faithful, they trusted me, they were obedience no matter what the cost!
You failed to hear the Spirit of God say Stop! You failed to look up! Your at that place!
Jehovah-Jeri h is about to provide the Ram! 2X
Your Ram what is it !
1.Your salvation
2.Your families members saved!
3.Your breakthrough in faincal area!
The Spirit of the Lord is telling us to trust him, to be faithful, be obedience to your prayer,
your giving of tithes and offering!
“Your at that place” Your ram about to be provided! And you always give up!
The pressures to much, the servants have talk you out of it!
“I tried it God,but I don’t see it happing!
What your Ram! Your healing, Your miracle, Your deliverance! The Lord, Jehovah-jerih was just about to provide, meet your circumstances!
Oh how many times have we been to that place! Only to give in to our friends, families, flesh, carnal nature to the attacks of evil spirits and the one that stop many of us, murring and complains!
God says to you and I it time to get to that place! It time to look up! In the middle of the thicket! In the mist of all the intangement of life in that place Jehovah-jerih is about to provide your ram!2x
Notice the last part of v. 14 “And to this day it is said ON THE MOUNTIAN TOP OF THE LORD the place that is not easy to reach, it takes trust, faith obedience,
On the mountain of the Lord at that place “ IT WILL BE PROVIDED! YOUR RAM ON IT WAY!
Oh hear what the Spirit of the Lord the Lord is saying to you and I
Some of you you got to get going you haven’t even got to the edge of the mountain yet!
Some of you were t that place and Jehovah-jeirh was about to provide your ram and you quit!
It’s time 2x to get your Ram!
He who has promised is faithful, he who said you would have your needs met cannot lie!
He cannot fail!
Get ready 2x
Your Ram about to be provided!
Look at what happen when God provided the ram, because of your willings to trust God, your wiliness to be faithful, your willings to be faithful your willings to to be obedience your willing to tell your two servants to stay behind your going on to that place!
And their more!
Look at what happen when God provided the ram, because of your wiliness to trust God and be faithful and obedience, your wiliness to tell your two servants to stay behind and going on to that place. vv.15-18
God will give you another cal! And He will reforce the promises and covenant!
And He does it by giving His oath or His Word!
Ps. 89: 34- 35 I not violate my covenant or alter whay my lips have uttered. Once for all I will not lie to David.(Joe)
Oh come on somebody you should shout out a prasie out to God!!
Because you have gone to that place, What place, faith, trust, and obedience!
How many know that without obedience you cannot have faith, trust!
Some sat that they have faith, trust, but when it comes to obedience in God’s will, God’s direction and giving to God their tithes and offerings!
Come on pastor that the O.T. It’s something how we want certain parts of the O.T.
But when it come to the tithes! Ok let’s look on!
“Because you have done this gotten to that place! v. 17
“I will surely bless you! You will have Blessing ( Key 481 T. Chain)
Oh it could have stop there and we could shout praise to God forever more! But it get better! v. 17-18
Your children, you’re children, children!
Posterity is promised! Det. 7:13-15 then Rom. 4:18 for those who say that was O.T.
He bless me! He blesses my children!
Oh come on! Can’t no body do me like Jesus!
Altar: What kept you from the mountain top, getting to that place! The ram is on it’s way!
