Does God sometimes
Make you toss and Turn?
JOB 7:4
When I lie down, I say, When shall I arise,
and the night be gone?
And I am full of tossings to and fro until
the dawning of the day!!
Man that’s Short but Powerful isn’t it!!!!!
How many of you tonight know that the
troubles of life can cause you to loose sleep?
Even sometimes Your troubles can be so
great that you pray for the morning to hurry
up and come, so you can at least go on to
work and forget about all your problems
for a little while!!!
Troubles along with the devil will test you
and find out just what you’re made of!!
Everyone has had a situation, or a
problem that seemed to have no solution
and not to mention a reason why it was
happening to you.
Especially if you’re a Christian!!!
Sometimes it seems like that when you’re
trying to live for God that troubles and problems
just come at you from every direction!!!
And sometimes the troubles of this Christian
walk seem to treat us un-fair!!! AMEN
But as Christians we have to understand that
many are the afflictions of the righteous. OR
In other words righteous folks have to go thru!
The word righteous is our key word here!
First of all, we have to understand
that there are two types of righteousness:
one is to be self righteous.
That means you think you’re better than every-
one.
Like for example
a person who thinks they are righteous because
they don’t cuss, smoke, drink, do drugs and so on, but still looks down on those who do without offering a word of Godly advice is self righteous.
But now listen to me, Just because you don’t do any of those things don’t make you righteous!!
Because a lot of church folk don’t do any of that, but they’re guilty of other stuff like not speaking to their neighbor or holding a grudge against somebody, or wanting to be seen or recognized for what they do in the church!!!!!
Are we hittin some nerve’s yet????
Let me straighten something out!!
To be righteous in God is to be made new again.
Apostle Paul said in 2nd Corinthians 5:17:
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new!!! AMEN
To be in Christ, means to be the anointed one and His anointing is in all of us, IF we allow it to be!!!
How many of you will agree with me that anointed people go thru a lot more trials, tribulations, and so forth
than say a sinner does???
(There must not be no anointed people in here tonight!!!)
In our short reading tonight, we find a man who is going through a severe testing of his faith!!
Only Job, here is not aware that he is the subject of a spiritual contest between God and the devil.
The book of Job is called one of the most profound books in all the bible for it confronts head on the toughest question of a Christian experience!!!!!AMEN
Why do the righteous suffer and the evil prosper??
Or as every Christian has ever cried out over the ages, What did I do to deserve this?
Or Why is this happening to me??
Have you ever asked God questions like that, while you’re in your midnight suffering?? That caused you to lay awake and toss and turn???
Have you ever said:
Lord I thought I was your main man?
Or Lord I thought I was your girl?
OOOOhhh Lord you told me that you’d make my enemies be my foot stools...
OH Lord you said I would eat the fat, drink the sweet and be merry, but here I am tossing and turning!!!!!!
Have you ever read the whole book of Job, How he suffered tremendously in such a lake of calamities, and they wiped out all that he had in this life.
His worldly things, His health, His possessions, and his 7 children,
but still He worshiped God!!!!!
And if that wasn’t enough then, His wife turned against him, and suggested that he curse God and commit suicide.
But what did He do, We need to take a Look at Job and learn from his downfalls.
In spite of all these pressures, Job trusted in the Love and mercy, and the grace of God and he refused to do what satan was trying to get him to do!!!! Which was Curse God and Die!!!
People there’s someone here tonight that needs to hear this!!!!!
God has sent me with this sermon tonight to tell somebody!!!!
You must never surrender to the devil or have anything to do with his plan!!! AMEN
I know that sometimes life gets hard, I have a life to, you know!!!!!
And it gets really hard for me to people!!!!!
I want you to look over to your neighbor right now and tell them:
You’ve got to much to lose to give up now!!!
Let me give you something to think about tonight, Understand that behind every trial in this Christian walk, there are two purposes in
the works!!!
Satan has his purpose and for sure,
God has his!!!
Satan’s purpose here in the book of Job was to use the pain of Job’s illness to afflict his body. Next, to use the well-intentioned comfort of his friends to irritate his soul.
(Because his so called friends Bildad, Elophaz, and Zophar) were trying to tell him that he must have done something wrong, and the result was,
That God was punishing him!!!!!! WRONG!!!
And thirdly, to use the silence of God to assault him in his spirit and to try and break down his faith!!!! Do you know what happens when
you lose faith??????
But God’s purpose here is
EVERYBODY SAY: BUT GOD’S PURPOSE:
God’s purpose here is to teach Job some truth that he never knew before:
He’s trying to deepen his knowledge of theology
Help him understand God much better;
And to provide a demonstration for all the people who suffer throughout all the ages!!!!
To bring them back to the reality that God really is in charge and He really does know what he is doing!!!!!!AMEN
Hang in here with me now, and I’ll shut up here in a minute or three!!!!
But listen to me saints:
When you are going through stuff, you have to realize and believe that God is still in control.
And when you to experience this reality, you can sleep just like a baby on the nights when the storms of life are raging.
When you recognize that God is in control, you can smile, when you’re money is running out.
When you recognize that God is in control,
you can hold up your head when situations have almost gotten the best of you!!
When you recognize that God is in control,
And you’re laying in bed and you can’t count your sheep, then you can count your blessings!!
Somebody said Count your blessings, name them one by one, count your blessings and see what the Lord has done!!
In fact you ought to make you a blessings list
begin to write down all the times your back has been against the wall and God has brought you out!!!!
I guarantee you won’t be able to write it down in one day!!!!!
And you might say, Well Preacher, if its that easy then why didn’t Job do it?
Understand now that Job didn’t know about the contest between the devil and God.
He didn’t know that satan had shown up in heaven and challenged God for a chance to beat him down.
The only reason we know about it is because we have the evidence of Scripture.
Poor ole Job didn’t have that, that’s why he speaks as he does in verse 4 of Chap 7
He says:
Lord I’m going through so much now that when I lie down, I say, when shall I arise, and the night be gone?
Because I am full of tossings to and fro unto the dawning of the day.
I’m talking about: tossin and a turning tonight people!!!!!
But if you don’t learn anything at all learn this from this sermon tonight,
we have it much better than Job!!!!
We have the assurance of God’s Holy Word!!!!
And that’s why God gave us his word so complete, because God already knew that if satan tried to destroy Job, a man who was perfect, then he’ll for sure try it on us, who are far less than perfect!!!!! AMEN
Remember what John 10:10 says:
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly.
And the next time you find yourself tossin and a turning, Just speak to your spirit and say
this ain’t nothing but a test, and I’m gonna wait on God to bring me through it!!!!!
HOW MANY KNOW THAT GOD WILL BRING YOU OUT TONIGHT????
Here’s a thought to think about: When your’ tested!!! Your test consists of three connections.
Its connected to (1) Your Past (2) Your present (3) Your Future!!!
Our past connection is that God saw something in you that needed to change for the better, and so he brought you out of your dark past and placed you in your present light!!!
But God didn’t say that your life would be a flowery bed of ease from then on.
And you have to understand that your future blessings are connected to how you handle your present sufferings.
If God sees that you can handle what you’re going through right now, He’ll bless you tomorrow with a blessing you won’t have room to receive.
The bible says: Pressed down shaken together
running over!!!
If you can endure today’s troubles and trials
god has promised that tomorrow your
Problems will turn into your praise!!!!
Your trials will turn into your triumphs!
Your worry will turn into you victory!
Your test will turn into your testimony!
and You’ll no longer be the victim!
You’ll be the Victory!!!!!! AMEN
And just remember what David said,
Weeping endure for a night; but joy
comes in the morning!!!
I stopped by on my way to heaven to give somebody a good word: It’s almost morning time: Rise, Shine, and give God the glory!!
Look over at your neighbor and tell them
I SEE THE SON ABOUT TO COME UP!!
NOT THE SUN ; BUT THE SON
I see the Son of God about to show up in your situation right now and honey when He shows up He’s gonna show off His Stuff!!!!!
God knows about your tossin and turning
He knows what you’re going through in your home!
He knows what your going through with your job!
He knows what’s been happening between you and your child!
He know how some of your so called friends have been talking about you!
He knows what’s been going on with your finances!
But just like that song that I sing:
Hold on just a little longer
Hold on your heart will grow stronger
hold on it won’t be long
hold on Church Hold On!!!
Thank You Lord for putting our Brother Job through these trials.
So we may have the encouragement ourselves in times of trials tribulations and sufferings!!!!
Its not always because we’re sinful, Sometimes it is, and we know it, But Job we know from the scripture that you didn’t do anything to deserve it!!!!
I thank God tonight for His Word, for allowing us to see beyond the curtain of His purposes and see the blessings that hang on our struggles.
So remember
We might have to spend a few more sleepless nights, but I’ll wait on the Lord!
I might be talked about and made fun of a few more days in this ole life; But I’ll wait on the Lord!
I might have to suffer a few more aches and pains in my body; but I’ll wait on The Lord !
I might be flat broke tonight; But I’ll wait on the Lord for that financial blessing!
My marriage might be on the rocks tonight; But God will work it out if I wait on Him!
Some of our Church family may not speak to us tonight; But God will Work it out if we Wait!
I may be lied on tonight but guess what; I’ll wait on My Lord
I might be criticized tonight But I’ll wait
I might have a lonely time tonight; But God is still with me always!!!!!
I’ll wait until God allows my change to come!!!
Maybe you’ll hear some older child of God say
If Job waited on the Lord, Then why can’t I??
The height of Jobs situation is not getting all his worldly possessions back either!!!!
The height of Job’s story was that God revealed himself and in Chap. 42 it says:
Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know. My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you!!!!!
Job learned about God’s character through suffering. God revealed his power and might
and His wisdom.
And further He also revealed His love mercy
and His grace.
Church suffering ain’t always punishment !
Sometimes its to give us a more real experience of God.
Of who He is and what He’s like!!
God wants our suffering to lead us to endurance, and stronger faith and to trust in Him!!!
Remember many are the afflictions of the righteous, or the anointed!!!!
If you’re going through something today then you must really be worth something to God!!!
Tell the person next to you
YOU’RE WORTH SOMETHING TO GOD!!!
Are you ready tonight to Toss and Turn for God???
Won’t you come tonight and make it right
with God!
Whatever you’re need is tonight God is here
for you!!!!!
If you need saved God’s here
If you need healed, God’s here
If you need delivered, God’s here
COME ON!!!!!!
GIVE IT TO JESUS TONIGHT!!!!!!!
