Summary: We need to look at people not through the worlds eye’s but through God’s eye’s

Looking through Gods Eyes

By Pastor Joe Bachman

How many times have we heard this statement?

You need to look at things and people the way God looks at them.

You have heard people say just ask yourself wwjd

What would Jesus Do?

Or when some one does something to you people tell you to look at them the way Jesus looks at them

You hear this all the time but very few people tell you how to accomplish this.

Well I want to give you a verse today

This verse I want you to memorize it

I want you to get it into your heart

I want you from this day forward to live out this verse

Turn in your bibles and mark this verse

Turn to

2 Tim 2:15

15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Notice the very first word it’s the word study

It doesn’t say read to show yours approved

it’s easy to read the bible

anyone can read our verse

2 Tim 2:15

15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

When you study you have to ask yourself What does this me?

Or how can I apply this to my life?

So you take this verse and lets study it

The first word is study

So God is saying study. Why?

to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,

and what will be the benefit of that

you will be able to rightly divide to word of truth.

So how does that fit into the message today about

Looking through Gods Eyes

To look at people the way God looks at you have to get to know him personally.

And how do you get to know him personally?

By reading and studying the Love letter he gave us.

We start feel his heart

We start to see his love

We start to see how much he wants to help people

How many people remember Rich Little ( Famous impressionist)

Someone ask him one time how he would come to imitate someone.

He said that he would sit down and listen and watch a persons movements for what seemed to be forever.

Before long he would be able to imitate them

From studying them he would be able to know how to move like they would

How that person would react to different situations

When that person would rise their voice

When that person would give a soft answer

In a essence he would become a twin of that person.

That is how we should be like with God

We should dig deep into his word to become like him

To know how to react to different situations

When to rise our voices

When to give a soft answer

To strive to become like Christ.

(follow the leader)

as long as he kept his hand and eyes on the leader he was able to follow him exactly

when he didn’t look but just felt he could somewhat follow him

when he looked but did not feel once again he could somewhat follow him

but when he could not see or feel him he didn’t even come close to be able to follow him

you could say that is the same way with God

the feeling part is like your prayer life

and the seeing part is like your reading his word

unless you are doing both you will not be able to follow exactly in his ways.

If you say you’re a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ then it is time you picked up your bible and started studying his word and spending time with him in prayer.

Luke 9:62

But Jesus said to him, "No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."

We are talking about looking through God’s eyes

but before we look through God’s eyes we have to look into God’s eyes

All through the bible lives were changed when people looked into Jesus’

Let’s look at some examples

Look at Judas

Here was a of disciple of Jesus

He walked with the Lord

Talked with the Lord

Ate with the Lord

Went places with the Lord

We all realize this but when you think about Judas what stands out?

His betrayal of Jesus

He gave Jesus a Kiss

Looked into his eyes

He must have felt exactly how he felt

His pain

His disappointment

A man wanted to know the will of God for his life, so took out his Bible, let the pages fall open, closed his eyes and put his finger down on a spot. Looking down at the verse under his finger he found that it said,

Matt 27:5

5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

Slightly frustrated he followed the procedure again. This time the verse at the end of his fingertip instructed,

Luke 10:37

Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise.

.”

Now alarmed he repeated the same steps once more. Anxiously, he peered down at the text under his finger which read,

John 13:27

"What you do, do quickly."

Now that sounds funny

Then there was a man named Peter

(STORY)

This same peter denied him 3 times

(STORY)

Woman caught in adultery

(STORY)

Man with leprosy reached out eyes must have met then Jesus did the unthinkable

He touched him

Luke 5:12-14

12 And it happened when He was in a certain city, that behold, a man who was full of leprosy saw Jesus; and he fell on his face and implored Him, saying, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean." 13 Then He put out His hand and touched him, saying, "I am willing; be cleansed." Immediately the leprosy left him.

The bible says

Matt 6:22-23

22 "The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

people can tell us by our eyes

it’s time we stop playing church and get serious with God

we say we are Christians let’s start acting like one

that makes me think about the story about the blind man

let’s turn to

Mark 8:22-25

22 Then He came to Bethsaida; and they brought a blind man to Him, and begged Him to touch him. 23 So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands on him, He asked him if he saw anything. 24 And he looked up and said, "I see men like trees, walking." 25 Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly.

When I read this I wandered why he wasn’t healed the first time

Why did Jesus have to heal him twice

Eye story

That like us as Christians

When we first become a child of God we are not going to imitate him exactly because we have to get to know him

How do we do that?

By reading and praying

Just like a person who receives eyes for the first time and has to train his mind on how to see

We have to train our minds on what we are to do as Christians

When we start doing this we will start treating other the way Christ would treat them

How does the world treat people that are different then they are?

Usually by shunning them

If they don’t look like we do

Talk like we do

Walk like we do

Smell like we do

Think like we do

Act like we do

The world says

Ignore them

Laugh at them

Make fun of them

What does God say to do

Love them

John 13:34-35

34 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

This a command not a suggestion

You will never fully understand the blessings you will receive from doing this.

You also can learn a lot from loving the person you believe is unlovable.

Or the person who we think is less fortunate.

I ran across this true story.

“An old man showed up at the back door of the house we were renting. Opening the door a few cautious inches, we saw his eyes were glassy and his furrowed face glistened with silver stubble. He clutched a wicker basket holding a few unappealing vegetables. He bid us good morning and offered his produce for sale. We were uneasy enough that we made a quick purchase to alleviate both our pity and our fear. To our chagrin, he returned the next week, introducing himself as Mr. Roth, the man who lived in the shack down the road. As our fears subsided, we got close enough to realize it wasn’t alcohol but cataracts that marbleized his eyes.

On subsequent visits, he would shuffle in, wearing two mismatched right shoes, and pull out a harmonica. With glazed eyes set on a future glory, he’d puff out old gospel tunes between conversations about vegetables and religion.

On one visit, he exclaimed, ‘The Lord is so good! I came out of my shack this morning and found a bag full of shoes and clothing on my porch.’ ‘It’s wonderful, Mr. Roth!’ we said. ‘We’re happy for you.’ ‘You know what’s even more wonderful?’ he asked. ‘Just yesterday I met some people that could use them.’”

That is the love of God

When we start looking at people through God’s eye’s all of a sudden

The color of their skin will not matter

The way they dress will not matter

The way they look will not matter

The way they smell will not matter

The way they talk will not matter

Their nationality will not matter

Even their religion will not matter

It’s not about any of that

It’s all about people having a relationship with Jesus Christ

John 3:16

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life

Do you have that sincere relationship with Jesus
