Satisfied and Single
By Pastor Fernando Cabrera
We become satisfied as a single Christian when we are:
1. Content
“Only, as the Lord has assigned to each one, as God has called each, in this manger let him walk…” (7:17)
“…However, each man has his own gift from God, one in this manner, and another in that.” (7:7)
“…it is good for a man to remain as he is.” (7:26)
Are you enjoying your gift?
What takes your contentment:
Speculation
“Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am” (Philippians 4:11)
We often loose our discontentment when we start to say, “If only…”
Jealousy
“For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing” (James 3:16)
When you get jealous toward other women or men
Self pity
“I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)
– stop feeling shameful of being single
What so great about being single?
Spontaneous.
Freedom.
Flexibility.
Timealone
Key Question #1: Are you pursuing other things so hard that you are loosing your contentment in God?
2. Committed
Committed Singles have an
undivided commitment to:
Please God
“One who is unmarried is concerned…how he may please the Lord.” (7:32)
Pursue God

Pursue God through ministry
“…undistracted devotion to the Lord” (7:35)
Watch your…
MOODS… since you are alone (v.30),
MATERIALISM…since you have much time (v.30),
MOTIVES …since you have no distractions (v.31)
Key Question #2: What has your attention, affection and attraction?
3. Cautious
Three Singles’ Safeguard
if seeking a spouse:
Parents
“So then both he who gives his own virgin daughter in marriage does well, and he who does not give her in marriage will do better” (7:38)
Preparation
“Prepare your work outside and make it ready for yourself in the field; afterwards, then, build your house” (Proverbs 24:27)
Material and Ministry
Purpose
“…she is free to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord.” (7:39)
