Topic: Putting God first
Scripture Reading: Mt. 6: 31 – 34
“Therefore do not worry, saying, what shall we eat? Or what shall we drink? Or what shall we wear? For after all these things the gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” (NKJV)
Its for you to ease yourself dining in new things, when God is taking you to new place children of God initially it might look as if its not good, but He knows where He is taking you to, our God specialises in how to bring good out of bitter things; take for example the Israelites when they left the Red Sea and came to river Marah , they were upset and angry, and complained to Moses because the water was bitter to drink asking Moses why he brought them to this place and what shall they drink but God is a God that transform things instantly and He told Moses to cast a tree into the waters immediately the Lord transform river Marah, a bitter water into a sweet water. So I’m telling you today that whatever is bitter in your life, don’t look at God and ask him why did He bring you to this place, God is going to bring happiness, joy, blessings out of them in the name of the Lord Jesus Amen.
Now I want you to go into the word of God with me in the book of Matthew, we are going to read from Matthew chapter 6, and we shall read from verse 31 to 34: “therefore do not worry, saying, what shall we eat? Today I would like to minister on verse 33; and the scripture says in Matthew 6 verse 33; “But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you” The bible says do not worry about what you are going to eat, do not worry about what you are going to drink, do not worry about what you are going to wear, do not worry about things in your life but what the Lord wants you to do is to seek first the Kingdom of the Lord and every other thing shall definitely be added unto you. This is the statement that determines everybody’s success and wellbeing, this is a statement that determines your breakthrough, this is the statement that determines your blessing, this is the statement that determines your victory in fact, everything regarding our life, but the problem with people is that we never ever take this statement to heart.
We don’t take this statement to heart, everyone wants to be successful, we all strive for success, going all over the place for one reason; we want success in our life. The main reason why we wake up in the morning and go to work is because we want success. We work late chasing business deals ignoring what is important in our lives; God. We push God out of our day-today life eagerly seeking wealth and the adulations that come with it. But I want you to know that people have failed in every area of their lives because they are not putting God first in their lives, let God be first in your life.
The bible says seek God first in all the things you do meaning that before any plans or wants in your life let God be first in everything. We all want to be successful, have happiness, have a good happy marriage see our children doing well but all these things can be successfully achieved by placing all our trust and hope in God. The secret to successful life is to cast all your burdens unto God and live in hope and expectation that the Lord will accomplish all that is good in your life. A lot of awful and terrible things are happening around the world right now because people have left God out of their lives; God doesn’t dwell in marriages anymore, we’ve left God out of churches; out of our businesses and out of our relationships with each other.
The first commandment in the book of Exodus 20: 3, says “You shall have no other gods but me.” (NKJV) let me explain further; a lot of people always assume wrongly that because they are not directly worshipping idols or not engaging in any evil or unholy acts that they do not have other gods in their lives but whatsoever thing you cherish most in your life that is taking the position of the Lord in your life is a god. Whatsoever thing that you do in the time that you’re suppose to serve the Lord and be in the house of the Lord is another god.
Let me say this to you, God will never force himself into your life and make himself number one that’s your responsibility you have the ability and capacity to make God first in your life, the responsibility lies upon you and not on God because the Lord has redeemed you by sacrificing his only begotten son our Lord Jesus Christ.
Do not get me wrong God wants you to be blessed, God wants you to prosper, God wants you to be in good health, and God wants you to have the best in life because children of God always have the best of things. God wants you to be rich and blessed with His glory, blessed with his favour because the promise of the Lord for your life is that you must be blessed and be a blessing to all other people.
3 John: 2; “beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” NKJV
So God wants us to be blessed but one thing God requires from you is that you must put God first, people are miserable, confused and depressed because they are trying to solve their problems by themselves. They are trying to answer their own prayers by themselves; trying to find solutions to the things that only God can resolve. You cannot make yourself successful; the bible says unless the Lord build the house those that build labour in vain, except the Lord bless you, you cannot bless yourself. How can you be successful in tribulations when you don’t even talk to God throughout the week, how can a week be successful when God does not have a single day or minute out of that seven days in your life. Draw near God and the bible says he will draw near you, if you should put God first in your life he will bless you, guide you, and lead you. He will be your shield and protector. God will be the one to direct all the things that you are going to do throughout that week. We have to learn to put God first in every area of our lives, its high time children of God to do the right thing and put God first in our lives than chasing after things of the world first.
When you put God first in your life children of God the door that God has already opened in your life, nobody can close that door. If we put God first in our life right now I’m telling you that there is no weapon formed against your life that shall prosper no because God is first in your life, if you put God first in your life and when you walk through the valley of the shadow of death you will not fear evil because God is first in your life and if God is first his rod and staff they will comfort you, they will lead you and guide you. If you put God first in every area of your life then there will be no tongue that rises up against you that shall prosper over your life. Every tongue that gathers against you will definitely be condemned because God is with you.
If you put God first in your life, if you talk to him in prayer and put all your problems before him let me tell you one thing God will be for you and when God is for you nobody can be against your life. Putting God first in our lives is very important when we put God first he will supply all our needs according to his riches and glory. If you put God first in everything that you’re doing let me tell you success is certain it’s very important that we serve the Lord. Your life will receive a turn around in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.
