IN ISRAEL THERE IS NO LEGAL PROVISION MADE FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF THE WIDOWS. BUT THEY WERE LEFT DEPENDENT PARTLY ON THE AFFECTION OF RELATIVES, ESPECIALLY THE OLDEST SON WHOSE BIRTHRIGHT OR EXTRA SHARE OF THE PROPERTY IMPOSED THIS DUTY UPON HIM.

I. GOD LOOKED FOR A PERSON WHO GIVE INCOMPARABLY (V. 41-42)

A. A person who give more than others (v.42a)

B. A person who sacrifice more than others (v.42b)

C. A person who is determined more than others (v.42a)

II. GOD LOOKED FOR A PERSON WHO GIVE WHOLEHEARTEDLY (V.43)

A. Who give and does not complain

“We never heard the widow complain in spite of her situation”

B. Who give and does not expect

“We never heard her demand of God”

C. Who give and does not doubt

-”But the poor widow came and put in…”

-She does not doubt.

III. GOD LOOKED FOR A PERSON WHO GIVE SACRIFICIALLY (V.44)

A. Who give even in times of poverty (v.44a)

B. Who gave even in cause everything (v.44b)

C. Who gave even it hurts (v.42a)

-“She could give one and spend the other one but she chooses to give until it hurts.”
