Hungry & Thirsty
Text- Matthew 6:24,25
Do not worry about your life…
So many are so concern…more concerned about their life than what they are about God.
Just got to make one more dollar…
If I can just have what they have…
I want to be like so & so…
I wish I had a new car, boat, house…
I owe, I owe so off to work I go…
And have we forgotten the true meaning of life?
Have we forgotten the Creator and His purpose?
Do we care what God thinks and what God wants?
Matt 6:24
24 "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. (riches or treasures) NKJV
We got to have the finest things, the best clothes, the best toys, the best life
WHEN that is not what life is all about.
What is life?
Defined it is : The physical functions of people, animals, and plants.
In physical terms, life is the time between birth and death.
We know that God is the source of life, it is a gift from Him.
He first filled Adam with the breath of life (Gen. 2:7) and He continues to be the source of all life.
Ps 36:9
9 For with You is the fountain of life;
In Your light we see light. NKJV
The New Testament expanded on the Old Testament idea of life.
The word life began to refer to more than physical existence.
Matt 6:26
25 "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? NKJV
It took on a strong spiritual meaning, often referring to the spiritual life that results from man’s relationship with God.
Eternal life means more than eternal existence.
Eternal life refers to eternal fellowship with God.
John 17:3
And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. NKJV
Eternal life is the highest quality of life.
The enemy has convinced, has deceived, has sold the lie to mankind that this earthly life is good, the pleasure of life is the best, that this earthly life has so much to offer.
Don’t buy into the LIE!
Don’t sell your eternal hopes for the LIE!
Don’t sell your soul on a LIE!
There is Truth in God’s House!
The TRUTH will set you free!
Eternal life is the highest quality of life.
Life in Christ is REAL LIFE!
This eternal life, Paul says, “that it is the freedom from sin”, “it is holiness”, “and a positive relationship with God”
John 6:47
47 Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life. NKJV
If you BELIEVE… “Make-believe”
John 1:4
In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. NKJV
Only living for Jesus is one really living, otherwise one is only existing.
John 10:10-12
I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. 11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. 12 But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; NKJV
The enemy of the soul will leave you high and dry. He is not a defense, He is not a help, He is nothing but a deceiver.
But My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus.
Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father except by Him.
To have Life in Christ
To live the Life in Christ
To abide in Christ
To assure oneself of eternal Life…
One must stay Hungry and Thirsty!
1 Cor.10:1-7
Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, 2 all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3 all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. 5 But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness. 6 Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted. 7 And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play." NKJV
What are we hungry and thirsty for?
The things of this earthly life?
OR
The Things of a Godly Life.
Matt 5:6
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled. NKJV

2 Chron 7:14-15
14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 15 Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.

Solomon had prayed and the sacrifices had been offered, then God came down. The fire of God came down and consumed the sacrifice.
The Glory of the Lord filled the Temple.
2 Chron 7:1
7:1 When Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the temple. NKJV
God wants a fresh sacrifice.
Time / Talents
The sacrifice of ourselves on the altar of the Lord.
He wants to consume us with His fire.
Purge us with His fire.
Refine us with His fire.
Fill us with His fire.
So His glory can fill our temples.
James 4:6-10
"God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble."
7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. NKJV
Just as Solomon built the most magnificent temple
We have built ourselves up, and we are what we are by God’s grace, wisdom, & knowledge.
Through hard work we have achieved
Through discipline we have moved forward in this life
BUT
Without the glory of the Lord radiating through us we cannot be everything that God wants us to be.
We have got to make up our minds that we want God more than we want anything else.
We have got to experience Him
His power, His Spirit, His moving and working among us.
We got to Have Him more than anything else.
Seek the Lord while He may be found.
We cannot miss Him this time.
We cannot back down, we must not stand still
We cannot slow down.
It’s more than 40 days of fasting and pray
It’s a change of Life
A change of habits
A set of new goals
New standards
We Must Go after God!
God is saying:
Pray and seek my face
Turn from your wicked ways.
What else do we hear God saying?
