Luke 11:2 (NKJV) 2So He said to them, “When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.
Jesus taught His disciples & indeed us, what we have termed ‘the Lord’s prayer’.
He indicated the importance of the Will of God being done on Earth & gave us the ultimate example
Luke 22:42 (NKJV) 42saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.”
At this time satan was attacking Jesus – trying to get Him to do his will not the Fathers. Jesus’ statement was an offensive weapon against all the forces of darkness arrayed against Him.
Use your will as an offensive weapon against satan.
Whoever controls your will controls the person. If God is in control of your will, He will control your actions. If satan is in control of your will, he will control your actions. If you are in control of your will, self will control your actions.
Because your will effects every aspect of your life, Satan’s objective is to weaken, divert or gain control of your will.
One of his major strategies today is to try to get you to spend your life following your own will…. Fulfilling the desires your flesh instead of dedicating & committing your life to fulfilling God’s will on Earth.
Remember the root cause of sin is asserting or placing your will above God’s will.
Satan cannot take your will from you. He cannot make you sin, but he will lie, deceive & place temptation in your way so that you will yield your will to him & the lusts of your flesh & sin against God.
Whoever controls your will controls the person.
You must learn to use your will as an offensive weapon against satan. You must daily take authority over your will & conform it to God’s will. You must be willing to say, “My will is no longer my own”. Daily you must dedicate your will to doing the will of God.
Before we can experience total victory over our wills we must go on the offensive into Satan’s territory – (the areas of our lives that have not been fully surrendered to God)
Whether we serve God or anything else is up to us – God has given us a ‘free will’
He gave us the ability to think, act & move independently from Himself.
With this powerful force man has the ability to choose his own destiny – whether to serve God & receive eternal life or reject God & serve satan & his own selfish nature.
Rom. 6:16 (NIV) 16Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?
The power of your will is based on yielding. If you yield your will to the temptations of the flesh, you become a servant, or in bondage to those desires.
If you yield your will to resist the temptations of your flesh & obey the word of God, you become a servant to the things of God – It’s as simple as that.
Even though you surrendered your will when you accepted Jesus – the power of sin was broken when you were born again, - Satan’s objective remains the same - to cause you to use your will to rebel against God.
Even a born again person still has a free will & can use that will against the purposes of God.
Like Jesus we too can use our will as an offensive weapon against satan.
“nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done”
Determine to win the battle of the ‘will’s’
