The Great Builder
HEBREWS 3: 1-11 (NAS)
1. Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle and high priest of our confession.
2. He was faithful to him who appointed him, as Moses in all his house.
3. For he has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, by just so much as the builder of the house has more honor than the house.
4. For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.
5. Now Moses was faithful in all his house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken later.
6. but Christ was faithful as a son over his house-whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end.
7. Therefore, just as the Holy Spirit, Today if you hear His voice,
8. Do not harden your hearts as when they provoked me, as in the day of the trial in the wilderness,
9. Where your fathers tried me by testing me, and saw my works for forty years.
10. Therefore I was angry with this generation, and said, they always go astray in their heart, And they did not know my ways;
11. As I swore in my wrath, They shall not enter my rest.
Every great house you see has a great builder, and a great architect.
A house just doesn’t appear.
Someone had to take the materials and build it.
They had to follow the plan.
Building a house is a hands-on job.
This church building didn’t just appear.
Someone had to build it.
It took people working together to get the job done.
I have entitled this today, “The Great Builder”.
Without the great builder none of us would be here this morning.
We talked about building a house being a hands-on job.
I have spoken in the past about God speaking and action taking place.
God spoke this world into existence as we know it.
It was done thru Jesus.
God spoke let their be light in Genesis 1:3
He spoke, something took place, their action was light.
God spoke and everything as we know it took place.
All it took was a word from Him.
Man was different; God, the great builder, used hands-on to create us.
Genesis 2:7 (NAS)
7. Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Man was made in the image of God, according to our likeness.
Who’s our likeness mean?
John 1:1-5 (NAS)
1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2. He was in the beginning with God.
3. All things came into being through him, and apart from him nothing came into being.
4. In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
5. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
Jesus, Holy Spirit, and the Almighty God.
Our body is a house.
1 Peter 2: 4-5 (NAS)
4. For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.
5. Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge.
We, as a church, are living stones that are being built up to make a house.
The house of God, the church.
God made us in his own image.
In His likeness.
Sorry Darwin, we didn’t come from a monkey.
The great builder, God, made us to be a great house.
You don’t see anything else in creation that was made not considered great.
The great builder made a great house, this church.
That means we have a great work to do.
That means we have to be ready to give why we believe what we do.
1 Peter 3:15 (NAS)
15. but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a difference to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence.
We have established the fact we are a house.
God never just spoke us into existence, it was hands-on.
This church has been hands-on; God’s hands are all over it.
When this church first started it was through a dream.
Not just any dream, a God-given dream.
I never even realized the dream being fulfilled until Sis Peg decorated the sanctuary.
God had shown me about two years before the church was even here what it would look like on the inside.
THE GREAT BUILDER!
He knew how to get the job done.
Psalm 127:1-2 (NAS)
1. Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain.
2. It is vain for you to rise up early, to retire late, to eat the bread of painful labors; for he gives to his beloved even in his sleep.
Unless the Lord builds the house!
Did you notice God gives to His beloved in his sleep?
About 6 years ago, I was lying in bed. I heard a noise like a wind blowing. I heard people hammering. They were building something. I remember people were talking in other languages. I still don’t understand it all, but we were building a church. Actually, God’s building a church.
When God speaks, miracles take place.
When God speaks, prophecy is fulfilled.
God speaks through Jesus!
Hebrews 1:1-3 (NAS)
1. God, after he spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways,
2. In these last days has spoken to us in his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.
3. and He is the radiance of his glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of his power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.
Go to 1 Peter 1: 13-14 (NAS)
13. Therefore prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
14.As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance.
Prepare your minds for action!
Duet 29-29 (NAS)
29. The secret things belong to the Lord our
God, but the things revealed belong to us and our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this law.
This church has been revealed!
When He speaks, prepare your minds for action!
