Who is Your God? The Bible tells us in no uncertain terms, Thou shall have no other Gods before me. Who are some people making a god of? Acts 12:20-23, Lets read these verses. And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon; but they came with one accord to Him, and, having made Blastus the king chamberlain their frend, desired piece; because their country was nourished by the kings country. And upon a set day Herod arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them. And the people gave a shout, saying, “It is a voice of a god, and not of a man.” And immediately the Angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the Glory; and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost. When a man starts believing that, he is more important than anything or any one, he becomes a god unto himself. We all know people like this; it’s been all over the news and in the papers. Now Herod listened to the roar of the crowd and not to his heart. He became consumed in the moment of notoriety and lost his way. This is an excellent lesson for all of us today, especially in a time of elections and controversy. Pop, Rock and Hollywood stars are a good example. People get so involved in the culture of today that they forget about, right and wrong, good and evil, justice and injustice. Were not talking about bad people, just people, like Herod, who loose their way. Righteousness is an intrical part of the Christians life and must be developed and nourished to an extent that we never allow ourselves to become involved in the politics of the world. For example, an actor became governor of a major state with no experience because people became enthralled in the moment. Pop stars command many crowds of people despite the seriousness of the charges against them. Even football stars get away with criminal acts because of money and the influence on the juries by the fans. All of this is unrighteousness and people are making gods of others just because of a name. Verse 22 concurs with what I’ve said. “And the people gave a shout,” …what were they shouting about? The moment, a person of notoriety, a person that they had raised above the God of their fathers. Cpt 13:6-10. Reading these verses reminds us of a time that is and has already come upon this earth. “….they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, …..{Paul said} “O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the Devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? How much clearer could Paul be? Bar-jesus, was deceiving the people with his subtilty and words, the same way of the world today. Many are being deceived and mislead by the grandness of others, weather it be because of their, monetary wealth, their name or status in this life. When will people wake up and understand that God is not pleased with these actions? God tells us not to be caught up in the world of the things of the world. Many of the movies, music and television show are an offence to God and should be an offence to His Children. Don’t allow yourself to make a god of these people, don’t allow yourself to be caught up in the hype and color and excitement of the season of destruction. For wide is the road and wide the gate that leads to destruction, and many there be that find it. Come out from among them and be ye a separated people. You know it may not be popular being separate but in the end there will be those who will wish that they would have been. We are a peculiar people, we are a people of different standards, we are a people with a King above all Kings, we, are a people chosen by God to inherit the world and the Kingdom of God. We are Christians. Read the prophecies, read and watch the news, understand that this world is headed to destruction by its own hands. The fighting over seas, the plagues, desiese, molestation, the Love of money, the love of a name, everything except the Love of God. God told Israel and He is telling us, “Let us come together and reason, one with another. “ Can we come to God and talk it over with Him? Can we remain a separate people; can we get back to Glorifying God and not men? Can we? Ars.
