Series: The Hebrew Hymnal (Psalms) [#11]
HYMNS #11-#13: TOOLS OF DESTRUCTION
Psalm 11-13
David’s early life can be divided into three sections: In the country, in the court, and in the cave. In the country, David learned worship. In the court, David learned wisdom. In the cave, David learned warfare.
Psalms 11-13 were probably written during David’s time in the court. From these three Psalms, we can find three tools of destruction that the devil uses to keep God’s children down.
Fear
Psalm 11
When life gets difficult, it would be easier to run and hide than to stay and deal with it. The devil uses fear to keep us running and hiding.
As a Christian we have been given the armor of God and are told to wear all of it. We are also told to stand firm.
Why fear? There is nothing or no one that can take away your salvation.
Gossip
Psalm 12
There is nothing more hurtful than the tongue. More damage has been done in the family of God by the tongue than anything else.
James 3:1-12
Loneliness
Psalm 13
Not only does Satan use fear and gossip to tear down God’s children, he also tries to convince us that God has abandoned us. It is bad enough that everyone else has abandoned us, but God? Verses 5 and 6 are reminders that God won’t leave us.
