{Thank God for a Hearing ear & a receiving heart}
Exodus 2: 1- 10
(Exodus 2:10 KJV) And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, because I drew him out of the water.
Have you ever stop to ask yourself why am I here. Have you ever gotten to the point that you have asked the question why was I even born?
Job 3:1-3 MSG Then Job broke the silence. He spoke up and cursed his fate: (2) (SEE 3:1) (3) "Obliterate the day I was born. Blank out the night I was conceived!
I’m sure that even with Moses at one point or the other he felt this way. But the very meaning of his name showed us why he came. The Bible says that after that Moses was retreat from the Nile River by Pharaohs daughter that she named him Moses. The name Moses is said to mean the pulled or drawn out one. Her father Pharaoh had made the decreed that every male child would be cast into the River. But to save her child one Levi woman took her child and place him in a small basket that had been waterproofed with tar and pitch, and placed the child in it. The Bible said that the woman had made and ark. I know that this is a different ark, put one can not help but recall all of the arks that were present in the history of the Jewish people. Noah’s Ark, that save him and his people. Moses’ ark that saved him from death in the Nile River. Then there is what I would say was the most famous ark, the Ark of the Covenant, that was not pitched with tar as the ark of Noah or Moses, but with pure gold. Then upon the top of the Ark was a lip that was was called the mercy seat.
Exodus 25:18-22 KJV And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat. (19) And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof. (20) And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be. (21) And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee. (22) And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.
Now if we are to correlate these two stories it is easy to see that Moses’ generation didn’t really meet God until the child Moses was place in the Ark as a testament of God, and it was he when he ws drawn or pull out to go forth and to be the testimony that Jehovah was still God.
After that the Levi woman made the ark she told her daughter to take it and placed it in the river. Now I’m not sure if she had planned for it to happen the way it did but the child ended up a right in the bathing area of the palace. Now it may not have been in her plan but one thing I know for sure it was in the divine plan and of God. No matter what it looked like God was working in the mist of the life of Moses even before he was named. Because of the divine plan of God the ark was retrieved by of all people, Pharaohs’ daughter! Mind you, it was Pharaoh that had made the decree that all the Hebrew male children should be cased into the River. Now let us be real, she has to know what the deal was with her father and how that he felt about the Hebrew children.
(Exodus 2:6 MSG) She opened it and saw the child--a baby crying! Her heart went out to him. She said, "This must be one of the Hebrew babies."
She knew it was a Hebrew child, but yet her heart when out.
Is there anyone in this room that can testify and help the rest of us out, by letting us know that God is so much God that he can cause even your enemy to be a blessing to you? Why we are sitting up wasting our time trying to figure out who doesn’t like us and who is against us God has a way of even using them. Who are your enemies?
(Matthew 10:36 MSG) Well-meaning family members can be your worst enemies.
(Luke 6:27 MSG) "To you who are ready for the truth, I say this: Love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst.
That is the case with Moses. That which would be the enemy ends up brings out the best that was in him so that he would be deliverer to his people.
Now I’m sure that some of you are saying that is a nice story about Moses, but Dr. Wilson, you still have not given me a reason to want to go on. Well the truth of the matter is every one of us in this room has a Moses testimony. If you are here today it is not by any good that you have done.
I know that you might think that you’re so special and that you deserve something out of live but the true of the matter we all deserve death.
Psalms 103:8-11 KJV The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. (9) He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. (10) He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. (11) For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
One commentary said, “It is a matter for which we should render unceasing praise that God has not done to us as our sins deserved.” You need a good reason to give God glory, well there it is?
God looked at all the mess that we had done.
• All the lies we told.
• All the feelings of people that we hurt.
• All the times that we prayed and ask God to do things for us and reneged on our part.
God looked at all the times…
• We were out partying and couldn’t and wouldn’t get up to come to church
• We were drunk.
• We were stoned out on drugs.
• We were fornicating and committing adultery.
• That we practice Idolatry, and witchcraft
• held hatred
And even though the bible says…,
Gal 5:21…, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Because of his mercy and his loving kindness, and his longsuffering, and his desirer that none of us should perish, instead of giving us what we desire…
• He came.
• He die.
• He rose.
That we might be…
• Washed in his blood
• Sanctified by His Spirit
• Made the righteousness of God.
• Justified.
Please tell someone beside you,
“Because of his Grace, you didn’t get what you deserved.”
Now let us reason this thing out. God’s Grace and Mercy have overridden his need for justice. I need you to think about this! If God was willing to change his mind about your situation, he has to have a purpose for your life that is worth saving. Just as God knew Moses, God knows you!
[Jeremiah 1:5 GW] "Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart for my holy purpose. I appointed you to be a prophet to the nations."
Let me make this thing clear. God always knew that there was going to be a YOU! Listen to me, everything that God does he does for a purpose and on purpose. You’re not a mistake. You’re not a mishap.
You were created for more than what you have been through.
Don’t you dare allow the devil and your pasto keep looking in your spiritual rearview mirror thinking that you can move forward in God.
[Philippians 3:13 KJV] Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: (explain)
but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
I know that your life may have been hard, and you may have not seen many days that you can call joyous. But I admonish you this morning in the Famous words given by Mordecai, after receiving the excuses of Ester, “and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
We don’t know what God’s plan is for our life! But one thing we do know, that when God thinks about us he has “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
I know that it might sound crazy, but God may have saved you just so that you can do something great right now.
• Despite your age,
• Despite your financial, situation
• Despite your job situation,
• Despite your social status
• Never mind what your mother said
• Forget what the doctor said
You have been, “Drawn out for a purpose”.
[Psalms 110:3 KJV] Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.
Tell somebody, “I’m coming into my Power”.
The verse says that the people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness.
[Hebrews 12:14 KJV] Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
Holiness proceeds power! Don’t kid yourself; you can’t get the power of God until you practice the Holiness of God. So what this verse is really saying is, that Holiness brings about a willingness that produces power.
• Moses didn’t have power in the ark.
• Moses didn’t have real power while he was in the palace.
• Moses didn’t have power after he had to flee the palace and ended up in Jethro’s house.
You want to know were Moses found his power? Moses found his power look at a burning bush in the desert.
God know that you where going to need power to fulfill your purpose.
• You didn’t find power in your prosperity; it was in your poverty.
• You didn’t find power in your good times; it was in your calamity.
• You didn’t find power in your health; it was in your sickness.
Why? Because it was in your weakness that you come to understand that you were going to need something greater than yourself to deliver you.
Just as God raised up Moses, you to have been “Drawn out for a Purpose”
