IN THE TIMES OF TROUBLE

Psalm 50:15
1 Peter 5:6-7
Introduction: Dr David Jeremiah Pastor, showdow Mountain Community church near San Diego, Calif. was diagnosed with cancer. His response was to call Jim Cymbala Pastor of The Brooklyn Tabernacle,B.N.Y. His call was to ask this church to pray. After some months went by he returned to vist B.T. durning an outreach meeting at Madison Square Garden arena. He was asked to preach and he did.
In his preaching he said "as soon as I learned of my sickness I called here because I knew of your emphasis on prayer". In fact some one just greeted me and remarked "Pastor Jeremiah we really caried out to God on your behalf". And God has brought me through. When people cry out call upon God with passion and tears, that’s the essence of true prayer. And that touches God.
Throughout the bible god (invites)us to call upon him. "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know". (Jer.33:3
God is not disconnected. He says continually through time :"I will help you, when you don’t know where to turn. Turn to me. When you are ready to throw up your hands, throw them up to me".
The Text:Psalm 60:11-12
the nation of Isreal was going tgrough some difficult times. and David was aware of where his help was.
He prays in hope:His prayers are "Give us help from Trouble".
The help from trouble they pray for is preservation from those who would change their way of life.
Help from trouble is rest from war.
The hope with which they support themselves in prayer has two things in it.
(1) Their understanding that man could not help: UNtil we are brought down to our own insufficiency, God could but will not help us.
(2) Their confidence inGod, and his power and promise. (V.12). They declare "Through God we shall do valiantly".
For he it is and he only, shall tread down our enemies.
(1) our confidence in God must be so strong that it encourages and quicken our endeavors.
For we realize it is God that performs all things for us, yet there is somethings we must do.
Faith, hope courage
(2)Hope in God is the best principle of true courage.

(3) It is only through God, and by the influence of his grace that we do valianity.
With God’s power, with God on our side, there is no need for fear.

Psalm50:15
1Peter 5:6-7
Psalm 50:15"Call upon me in the day of trouble, I will deliver you, and you will honor me"
God loves praises, God desires praises from our lives, but the only way fresh praise and
honor will come is as we keep coming to him in time of need and difficulty.
1 Peter 5:6-7"There humble yourselves under the mighty hand of god, that he may exaly you in due time".
Distraction, anxieties, burdens, and worries.
Casting all your cares upon him, for he cares for you.
He cared so much that he gave his only beloved son he gave Jesus.
Oh, what peace we often forfeit.
Oh, what needless pain we bear.
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.
