St. Luke 2:1-7
Topic: Make room for Jesus
During this Christmas season, most of you have already had your house decorated with all the beautiful Christmas lights, and Christmas decorations.
Most of you have had your Christmas tree decorated ever so pretty, and have so many Christmas presents put under the Christmas tree. But unless you have had made room for Jesus Christ for this holiday season, your Christmas will be incomplete.
Most of you may have already brought the most finest Christmas gifts for your loved ones for Christmas Day. Some of you have been singing and playing all the well-known Christmas songs. But still, you cannot have a true Christmas unless you have made room for Jesus Christ.
Some of you may have already gone to many Christmas parties, and have already ate a lot of Christmas cookies, Christmas cake, and have drank all the egg-nog as you want. But still, you cannot have true a Christmas unless you have made room for Jesus Christ
Some of you may have already kissed your wife, husband, girlfriend, or boyfriend under the mistle toe, and have had warm yourselves by the fireplace. But still, you cannot have true Christmas unless have Jesus Christ.
Some of you may have plans to travel far, and, wide, or near during this Christmas season to be with your relatives, friends and love ones. You may invited all of your family, friends, and love ones over to your house for a Christmas dinner, and worn all the red, white, and green clothing that you can find. But still you cannot have true Christmas unless you have JESUS CHRIST
Now, there is nothing wrong with decorating your house with all the pretty lights and all the pretty decorations for the Christmas holiday season. There is nothing wrong with decorating your Christmas tree so pretty for the Christmas holidays. There is nothing wrong with buying and receiving gifts, or singing the Christmas songs, or going to Christmas parties, eating and drinking the Christmas goodies, kissing your wife or husband under the mistle tree, inviting people over to your house for Christmas dinner or traveling to see family and friends during the Christmas holidays. No, there is nothing wrong with doing some of these things that I just mentioned that you could do during this Christmas holiday season. But your Christmas would be so ever incomplete if you do not make room for Jesus Christ.
You see, Jesus Christ should be the focal point of our Christmas celebrations, and if Jesus Christ is the focal point of our Christmas celebrations, then there just some things that you would not do in our Christmas celebrations such a getting drunk or getting high, stealing and robbing other people, being greedy or selfish, cussing people out just because you did not get what you wanted for Christmas. Rather, if Jesus Christ is the focal point of our Christmas celebration, then we should show love, kindness, care, gentleness, peace, be in harmony with one another, sharing with one another, and praise God for His Son Jesus Christ because He is the reason for the season.
Now the question is: why should Jesus Christ be the focal point of our Christmas celebration? Why should we make room for Him during this holiday season.
The reason why Jesus Christ should be the focal point of our Christmas celebration is because during this holiday season and on December 25th is the time that we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Now there are some people who will try to argue and debate with you about the birthdate of Jesus Christ saying that he was not born on December 25th. But the importance is not in knowing if Jesus was born on December 25th or not, but it the importance is in knowing and believing that He was born. You see, over 2000 years ago, Jesus Christ was born in a city called Bethlehem. When He was born, he was born not in a hospital like most of us, but He was born in a stable, in a manger, where all the animals slept because the scripture says that there was no room for them (Mary, Joseph, and newborn baby Jesus) in the inn.
But what makes Jesus birth so special is that He was born in virgin birth of a virgin woman by the power of the Holy Ghost. That is, Jesus Christ birth was not an act of Joseph and Mary having any type of sexual relations with each other. But rather it was the act of the Holy Ghost coming upon Mary and overshadowing her, and she became pregnant with the Son of God without having any sexual relations with any man. But when the Holy Spirit came upon Mary to impregnate her with Jesus, this was also an act of God the Father sending his Son Jesus Christ to save the world from their sins. That is, God sent His Son Jesus Christ into the world through the virgin birth of a virgin woman Mary by the power of the Holy Ghost.
Isaiah 7:14 says, “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign: Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”
Isaiah 9;6 says, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
John 1:1-2 says, “In the beginning was the Word(Jesus Christ) and the Word was with God and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God…..
“And the Word became flesh( through the virgin birth of a virgin woman by the power of the Holy Ghost), and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
Galatians 4:4 says “But when the fullness of time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law…….. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosever believeth in him should not perish, but shall have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
And because Jesus was born in a virgin birth of a virgin woman by the power of the Holy Ghost, when he was born, he was born with a sinless nature. You see, when we were born, we were all born with a sinful nature because our birth was wrought by man, and because our birth was wrought by man, all of us was born in sin, because man is a sinner. But because Jesus Christ birth was wrought by the Holy Ghost, and not by man, he was born with a sinless nature. And because Jesus was born with a sinless nature, He was able to be the Savior of the world because in order for Jesus to save us from our sins, He had to be without sin. And rightfully so, Jesus was without sin. And because Jesus was born without sin, He is rightfully called Immanuel, which means God with us. He is rightfully called Wonderful. He is rightfully called the Wonderful Counselor. He is rightfully called the Mighty God. He is rightfully called the Everlasting Father.
Because Jesus was born without sin, He is rightfully called the Son of God. He is rightfully called the Son of the Most High God. He rightfully called the Bread of Life. He is rightfully called the Good Shepherd. He is rightfully called the Light of the World. He is rightfully called the Living Word of God. He is rightfully called the Resurrection and the Life. He is rightfully called the Water of Life. He is rightfully called the Savior of the world. He is rightfully called the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords.
Because Jesus was born without sin, He is able to heal the sick
Because Jesus was born without sin, He is able to lift up when you are down.
Because Jesus was born without sin, He is able to give sight to the blind
Because Jesus was born without sin, He is able to make the deaf hear again
Because Jesus was born without sin, He is able to make the cripple walk
Because Jesus was born without sin, He is able to calm a sea storm
Because Jesus was born without sin, He is able to walk on water
Because Jesus was born without sin, He is able to raise the dead back to life again
Because Jesus was born without sin, He is able to feed 5,000 with 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread.
Because Jesus was born without sin, He was able to save us to the uptmost, and give us salvation. And if you want to have a meaningful Christmas this year, you ought to make room for Jesus Christ.
When you make room for Jesus, you will have peace
When you make room for Jesus, you will have joy
When you make room for Jesus, you will have everlasting love
When you make room for Jesus, you will have mercy
When you make room for Jesus, you will have victory
When you make room for Jesus, you will have eternal life
When you make room for Jesus, you will have salvation.
But when you make room for Jesus, don’t just make room for Him just for December 25th, but every day, every month(January thru December), and every year and everywhere( in your home, marriage, on your job), you ought to make room for Jesus Christ.
On Monday- Make room for Jesus
On Tuesday- Make room for Jesus
On Wednesday- Make room for Jesus
On Thursday- Make room for Jesus
On Friday- Make room for Jesus
On Saturday- Make room for Jesus
Then on Sunday, when you come into this place of worship, make room for Jesus by making a joyful noise of praise unto His name because He is the reason for the season, and He is worthy to be praised!!!!!
In Conclusion
To make room for Jesus Christ in your life, all you need to do is confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, thou shall be saved. Yes, Jesus Christ was born in a virgin birth of a virgin woman by the power of the Holy Ghost. But he also grew up to be a man. And at the age of 33, Jesus Christ died upon the cross for our sins and rose from the dead for this one purpose; to give us salvation and eternal life. And salvation and eternal life is yours if you just believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died upon the cross and rose again. If you just receive Jesus Christ into your life, you will have a meaningful Christmas because Jesus is the reason for the season.
