When God Tells you to Move, Move 1stKings 17:1-9....And the word of the Lord came unto him saying. Arise, get the to Zarephath..... Elijah Genesis 12:1-4 Now the Lord had said unto Abram,Get the out of thy country...... Abram Its time to get up, its time to get packed, its time to get out, its time to listen to the Lord and go where He desires us to go. Why arnt you blessed, why arnt you succeding, why are you still in the state of want? Why is it that you cant understand, why hasent the Lord spoken to you in such a long time? Could it be that, God has spoken to you, but you havent listened? Are you too busy praying, that you dont have time to be still and let God talk for a while? Look at Elijah, There was a drought in the land and a fammon, people were dieing and not listening to the Lord. God told Elijah to , get up and go to a stream, that I will show you, there will be water and shade and I will have the ravens feed you. And you will be spaired the tribulations that I will bring upon this land. The stream was called Cherith, which means, cut. It was Elijahs reffuge ,in time of trouble. But what would have happened if Elijah refused to go?He had the freedom of choice, he could have said, no, I want to stay here with the rest of the people, maby I can help them. It was just his life wasnt it? His choice to stay there wouldnt affect anyone else? Or would it? Of course it would have, He for starters would have starved to death, and the widdow and Her son, would have died, there was a chain of events that God knew of that would have changed everything, includeing the writeing of the scriptures. And what about Abram, God had sent his people to Canaan but they stopped short of their blessing, they stopped in Haran. Isnt it like christians today, always stopping at the wrong place at the wrong time/ Missing their blessings, because they dont give God a chance to work in their lives the way He wants too. Why do we always want to go a different direction that God wants us to go? Is it because that we can? Or is it because we are affraid of whats on the other side of the hill? Terah was satisfied to stay in Haran, I immagened that they prospered to an extent, but it wasnt where God wanted them to be. His family was missing the true blessings that awaited them in Canaan. An Elijah, what about Him? When He got to the stream, I guess that he thought that he had it made. Fresh water, shade, the ravens brining him food each day, wow, what a life. No worries, no work, no problems, and no responsability. But, God wanted him to move, there was a poor widow woman and her son about to starve to death and God wanted him to go. Sometimes God allows situations to happen to us, to get us to move. With Abram, Terah, died and with Elijah, God caused the stream to dry up and He quit sending the food. So Elijah had a choice again, move or die where he was. We cant stop short of our blessings, we cant stop short of our place in life and we cant stop short of our responsability to God and others. Do you just want to be responsable for yourself? Then find an island where you can live alone. As long as we are called Christians, we have a delagated duty from Jesus, and the authority to seek out those that are lost. Your blessings are just around the next rise, around the next bend in the road, its not at Haran and its not at Cherith, it awaits those that are willing to go foward an extra mile with God. A lot of dissions to take into consideration isnt it? Ive been there, thinking, should I go or stay, should I move on to the next levil of faith or remain where I am, just because its comfortable. Just because its safe? God wont mind, Im safe and comfortable and no one needs me anyway. No one wants to here my opinion, nobody wants to here my side of the story, nobody cares anyway. What if Jesus thought this way, Well I dont really hafe to go to the cross, I can just preach to the people that will listen to me. Ill stay right here and maby later they will all believe in me . Im not going to move, Im going to stay right here. The roads to long and the journey is too hard. From Adam to Jesus, from Jesus to us, immagine the decisions that were made. Decisions that effected the entire human race, decisions of life and death, condemnation and reconsiliation, the very fabric of life hung in the ballance. And here we sit trying to make up our mind weather to move or not. We read and we studdy and we marvile at the old and new testiment saints of what they did, but didnt Jesus declare that we could do the same as he and even greater works shall we do. Well church, we arent going to do anything sitting in Haran. All God is waiting on is us. We say a lot of times, Well when its Gods time. Dont you think that it is past time, dont you think that God is waiting on us? Your blessings are just in reach, lets get out of Haran, lets get out of Cherith, lets look up, pack up cause we about to move up, to a brighter day a more secure future a larger blessing awaits, in the land where God wants us to be. So when God says move, MOVE. ars.
