OUR SALVATION: THE WORK OF THE TRINITY
"Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies..."
Psalms 103:1-4 (NKJV)
The work of the Trinity to provide for our salvation should be the source of continual praise from every child of God.
I. OUR SALVATION BEGINS WITH THE FATHER: "For God so loved the world..."
Our salvation is the result of the manifestation of His love, mercy, compassion and forgiveness.
“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.” Lamentations 3:22. (NKJV)
“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!” 1 John 3:1 (NKJV)
“Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteousness man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.” Isaiah 55:7 (NKJV)
“For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.” Psalms 103:11-12 (NKJV)
OUR SALVATION MADE POSSIBLE BY THE SON: Purchased with His blood.
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” Ephesians 1:7 (NKJV)
“…knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” 1 Peter 1:18-19 (NKJV)
“Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25
OUR SALVATION IS ACCOMPLISHED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT
Our salvation occurs when we are born of the Spirit.
"Jesus answered,’Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ’You must be born again.’
"The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit." John 3:5-8 (NKJV)
His convicting power makes known to us our need of salvation.
"And when He [the Holy Spirit] has come; He will convict the world of sin… of sin, because they do not believe in Me.” John 16:8-9 (NKJV)
His indwelling eternally guarantees our salvation.
“…in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession.” Ephesians 1:13-14 (NKJV)
His empowerment enables us to bear effective witness to others of the salvation we have experienced.
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8. (NKJV)
CONCLUSION
Our salvation is the work of the Trinity. Saved by His grace; redeemed by His blood; and kept eternally secure by His power.
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." Ephesians 2:8-10 (NKJV)
