Jesus and Melchizedek
Hebrews 7:1–28
I. Who is Melchizedek? (Heb. 7:1–10)
A. Melchizedek, King of Salem. Gen. 14:18–20
1. King of Righteousness.
2. King of Peace.
B. Melchizedek, priest of God Most High.
1. He blessed Abraham.
2. Abraham presented tithes to him.
C. Melchizedek, A priest forever.
1. No beginning or end of days.
2. No genealogy.
II. Jesus and Melchizedek (Heb. 7:11–25)
A. A change in priesthood signals a change in law. Gal. 3:21-25
B. Jesus’ priesthood was not based upon genealogy.
C. Jesus’ priesthood was confirmed with an oath. Psalm 110:4
D. Jesus’ priesthood has no end of days.
III. Jesus meets our needs. (Heb. 7:26–28)
A. He sacrificed himself for us. Heb. 10:9–10
B. He is our High Priest, Forever! Heb 7:25
