“What Shall We Have Therefore?”
Text: Matthew 19:16-30
Intro:
The title of the message comes from v. 27.
Peter asked the Lord what he and the other disciples would received for forsaking all and following Jesus.
Peter asks the question “What Shall We Have Therefore?”
This morning I want us to look at seven things that the born again child of God will receive as a result of forsaking all and following Jesus.
I. A RAPTURE
1 Thess. 4:13-18
II. A RESERVATION (INHERITANCE)
1 Peter 1:4
We have an inheritance reserved for us in heaven.
Can’t loose it.
Based on being a son of God – See Romans 8:15-18
v. 17, “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God,…”
How does one become a son of God, a child of God?

III. A REWARD
Colossians 3:24
Rev. 22:12
2 John 8
Rewards are earned based on works performed after get saved.
How the Lord determines whether a believer receives or loses a reward.
See 1 Corinthians 3:10-15
IV. A RETURN
Rev. 19:11-14
V. A REIGN
A reign with the Lord Jesus Christ on the literal earth for 1,000 years.
Rev. 20:4
This reign is based on suffering for Christ now.
See 2 Tim 2:12
VI. A REUNION
With Saved ones who gone on before.
1 Cor. 13:12 – We will know our love ones.
With our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
1 John 3:2
VII. A REASON
1 Peter 3:15
As believers we have a reason of the hope that is in us.
That hope is that life does not end at death but is eternal.
That some day every saved person will be resurrected and taken to heaven to be with Jesus.
This is based on Christ’s finished work at Calvary.
His precious blood that was shed to paid for all the sins of mankind.
As believers we need to testify of the reason for that hope that in us to the unsaved.
God have given each believer the earnest or down the payment for our future resurrection in the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Conclusion:
We ask the question, What Shall We Have Therefore? for forsaking all and following Jesus.
We have seen this morning that the believer will have –
A RAPTURE
A RESERVATION (INHERITANCE)
A REWARD
A RETURN
A REIGN
A REUNION
A REASON
