THERE ISN’T ANYBODY LIKE HIM
TEXT: Isaiah 40:21-22,25
INTRODUCTION: All through the Bible we read of everything that God has done for mankind. We read of the miracles that He performed time after time throughout history.
When we look at them we are compelled to say, along with those that witnessed them, “There isn’t anybody like him.” (Give brief account of the wonder of these Bible stories.)
1. Moses: Parting of the Red Sea. It has been suggested that where they crossed was only knee deep. Well it drowned Pharaoh’s army! He must have cried, “There isn’t anybody like Him!”
2. David: Goliath
3. Joshua: Jericho
4. Elijah: Mount Carmel
5. Shad. Mesh. Abed: Can’t scare us with heaven.
6. Daniel: Lions den. He was the first charter member of the Lion’s Club.
7. Jesus: Healing the blind man as he cried “Son of David, have mercy on me.”
8. Jesus: Raising the dead.
9. Jesus: The woman taken in adultery.
10: Jesus: The maniac of Gadera.
10. Paul: On the Damascus Rd.
They all must have cried, “There isn’t anybody like Him!”
And when we look at the things around us and what we go through, we too, should say, “There isn’t anybody like Him!”
I. THERE ISN’T ANYBODY LIKE HIM IN CREATION
Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
It is God who created the universe! It didn’t happen by chance. It didn’t happen with a “Big Bang.” It happened when God said, “Let there be.” And it was.
1. The earth is just the right distance from the sun. Not too close, not too far.
It travels at just the right speed. If it traveled too fast or too slow, we’d be in trouble.
Look at the stars! What an awesome sight. To think how big some are The star Antares could hold sixty-four million suns the size of ours. Now that’s big.
Let me ask you, “How big is your God?”
Psa 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork.
Then look at the creation of man. Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:
Gen 2:22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
Here we see God also created the parts for the first loud speaker system (The woman).
Look at the reproduction systems. If they evolved, they would have had to evolve at the same time and both would have to work the first time. Random chance! Yeah, right!
Psa 139:14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
The complexities of the human body are incredible! There’s no way it just evolved by random chance!
I. THERE ISN’T ANYBODY LIKE HIM IN CREATION
II. THERE ISN’T ANYBODY LIKE HIM IN SALVATION
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Look at the word “salvation.” What does it mean? It means to rescue! Rescue from what? Hell! I’m here to tell you that whether you believe it or not, Hell is a very real place!
We looked at the God of creation and believe you me, if He can create the universe with His Word, He can give us His Word!
This is the Word of God and it says that there is a place called hell and that those that reject Jesus Christ as Savior will go there!
Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
There is a hell and people need to be saved from it. And Jesus Christ is the only way to be saved from it. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
He was crucified, buried, and arose from the dead. Buddha wasn’t, Confucius wasn’t, Mohamed wasn’t. Only Jesus Christ was!
Salvation is through a person, not a denomination, not by good works, not by giving money, not by communion. You can be baptized, sanitized, and deodorized, but unless you are born again, you will go to hell!
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Notice once again that it doesn’t say “except a man be baptized, takes communion, gives money, belongs to the Baptist church, is a good person, does good works.
IT SAYS YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!
I. THERE ISN’T ANYBODY LIKE HIM IN CREATION
II. THERE ISN’T ANYBODY LIKE HIM IN SALVATION
III. THERE ISN’T ANYBODY LIKE HIM WHO CARES FOR YOU
1 Pet 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
God cares for you. As we’ve already seen He cares for you so much the He sent His only begotten Son to die for you.
But not only does He care for our souls, He also cares about or every day life. There isn’t one thing in our life that is not important to Him.
He cares when we are sick, He cares when we are discouraged, He cares when we are lonely, He cares when we are heartbroken. He cares about the storms of life that we go through.
Look at Mark 4:35-40
I would think that after all that the disciples had seen Jesus do that when they asked Him “carest thou not that we parish?” It must have hurt Jesus for them to even think that He didn’t care. Look what He says.
The song, “No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus.”
Do you take care of your children? If you are saved, you are a child of God.
Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Rom 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
Rom 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
Rom 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
If you are a child of God, don’t you think He will take care of you even more than you take care of your children?
Mat 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
Mat 7:8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Mat 7:9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
Mat 7:10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
Mat 7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
God cares for us infinitely more than we even care for our children. And hopefully that is much.
I. THERE ISN’T ANYBODY LIKE HIM IN CREATION
II. THERE ISN’T ANYBODY LIKE HIM IN SALVATION
III. THERE ISN’T ANYBODY LIKE HIM WHO CARE’S FOR YOU
IV. THERE ISN’T ANYBODY LIKE HIM IN DEATH
Death is a part of life. We are all going to die.
Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Our parents will die, our children will die, we will die. We don’t like the thought of death. Even as Christians we don’t like death. Death is an enemy.
1 Cor 15:26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
Death is a result of sin and it came because of Adam.
Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
If you are not saved, God has no pleasure in your dying and going to hell.
Ezek 33:11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
People say they don’t believe a good God would cast people into hell. He doesn’t, you do. You choose to go there. He doesn’t want anyone to.
THERE IS NO ONE WORTH GOING TO HELL FOR!!!!!!
We as Christians may not like the thought of death, but we don’t have to fear it.
When we die it is just a shadow we pass through on our way to see Jesus.
Psa 23:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Psa 23:2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
Psa 23:3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Psa 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Psa 23:5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Psa 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
When we die we don’t have to fear because God is with us. We will also be in a much better place, Heaven. For a child of God, death is the door to heaven.
We will dwell in the house of the Lord, forever!
John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
John 14:2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
It is a place of unspeakable beauty. Paul saw heaven and it was unlawful for him to even speak about what he saw.
2 Cor 12:2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.
2 Cor 12:3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)
2 Cor 12:4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
Paul saw heaven and because of what he saw he was not afraid of death. In fact he was torn between staying on earth and going to heaven.
Phil 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Phil 1:22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.
Phil 1:23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:
You say, “Well if I saw what Paul saw, I wouldn’t be afraid either.” You don’t have to see. We have the Bible, the Word of God. It is even more sure than our sight.
2 Pet 1:16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
2 Pet 1:17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
2 Pet 1:18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
2 Pet 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
2 Pet 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
2 Pet 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
So when God says, Psa 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. We can believe it. There isn’t anybody like Him in death!
Conclusion:
Who is like our God? There isn’t anybody like Him!
