“FIT TO BE TIED”
Jeremiah 32:17
INTRO: Are there any limitations on God?
Is there anything God cannot do?
The answer to that question is YES!
God is limited to his character, He cannot sin!
There for He cannot lie!
So let’s rephrase the question: other than the limitations tht come with God’s character, can God be limited?
NO!!!!!!!!!!!
Can God be limited to man? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does God need our worship to be God?
Does God need our faith to create the universe?
Does God need our permission for anything?
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
God is not dependant on us.
However, We are dependant on God!
And yet we limit Him.
I. We Limit God, When We Think Of Him Within Our
Limitations:
God is not limited to Mans limitations
“There is none like unto the God of Jeshurun, who rideth upon the heaven in thy help, and in his excellency on the sky.” Deuteronomy 33:26
“And he said, To morrow. And he said, Be it according to thy word: that thou mayest know that there is none like unto the Lord our God.” Exodus 8:10
Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.” 2Samuel 7:22
God is so AWSOME!!!!!!!!!
Yet we put bounds on Him
We tie His hands.
THE WORK OF GOD IN OUR LIFE IS LIMITED WHEN OUR CONCEPT OF GOD LIMITS HIM TO OUR SAME LIMITS
II. We limit God, With Lack of Faith:
Now God does not need our faith to act!
He did not need our faith to create the universe
He did not need our faith to create the world
God is not nor can be limited by our actions, Yet He has chosen to limit himself in accordance to our faith!
A lack of faith stopped the disciples from healing the afflicted boy
A lack of faith caused the storm to rage on a boat at sea
A lack of faith cause many to reject and crucify Christ
A lack of faith will cause my prayers to be unanswered
“For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall be ashamed.” Isaiah 30:7
III. We limit God, When We Harbor Sin:
“If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:” Psalm 66:18
HOLDING ON TO SIN
The difference between a person seeing God work in their life or not: Is not how good they are
You can be very good but still be limiting God!
The difference is whether you are holding on to sin!
You may commit a dozen sins but when the Spirit confronts you, you repent, God is able to work!
You might commit only on sin but because you refuse to let got of that sin—you limit God!
