“Court is in Session”
The scene is of a Divine courtroom. Satan, the accuser of the brethren, stands before the ultimate Judge, God the Father, and argues that you should be sentenced to eternal damnation. He enumerates all of your transgressions with the utmost eloquence. Sweat pours off his brow as, one-by-one, he names your offenses. It doesn’t look good for you as you sit defenseless listening to your “crimes”.
Just as the Judge is about to pass sentence, the doors at the back of the courtroom burst open and a bright light appears that illuminates the entire room. A celestial voice booms out as though coming from the midst of the light: “WAIT A MINUTE…..I HAVE EVIDENCE THAT WILL CLEAR THE ACCUSED!!!”
“Say on!” the Judge declares.
Out from the light emerges the Lord Jesus Christ, your Advocate. He advances toward the front of the courtroom and begins to raise His hands. “This man is innocent because the sentence has already been served. He deserved death for his crimes but I have already gone to the cross to pay the penalty for his sins. See here. These nail prints in my hands…. the nail prints in my feet. See these wounds on my side. They are there as evidence that this sinner cannot be condemned! I have already suffered the consequences so that anyone who believes may have everlasting life in Heaven. This man must go free!”
The Judge, with a thunderous bang of His Divine gavel, proclaims “CASE DISMISSED!!!!”

The Trumpet
I can see Jesus standing on the portals of Glory waiting to blow His trumpet that will call God’s children home. By the way, my Bible says that it’s the “trump of God” that’s going to sound. Why do we say that Gabriel is going to blow the trumpet? Where’s the chapter and verse for that? Don’t you think that the Son of God, the One who was there at creation; the one Who turned water into wine, gave the blind their sight, made the lame to walk, caused the deaf to hear, cast demons out of those who were possessed, raised the dead to life, Himself raised from the dead, don’t you think that He is capable of blowing His own trumpet---of tooting His own horn?!
He’s standing there with His lips pursed just waiting for the signal from God the Father to blow the trumpet.
One day God is going to give the nod and my Lord is going to take a deep breath. He’s going to rear back and blow a blast that will be heard on every corner of the earth. It will be the most beautiful melody that has ever been played. At that moment the graves are going to split open and the dead in Christ will rise first (because they have six feet further to go!). Then we, which are alive and remain, shall be caught up together with them to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
