Summary: Jesus is calling for each one of us to give ourselves completely to him and to live for him wholeheartedly. He is calling for you to live for him all of your days.

A lot of people today do not understand God and who he is. They have a wrong idea or concept of God. They say, “Is there really a God? I can’t see him so how do I know if he is really there?” Let me tell you a little something about God this morning.

The Bible tells us in:

John 4:24

24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

God is a spirit and therefore he is invisible to the eye. You can’t see him but he is still there. You can’t see him but you can sure feel him in this place today.

God is Eternal

God has always been around. God has always existed. Since the beginning of time God has been here and before time began God was. After time stops forever and eternity begins God will still be here.

Isaiah 44:6

6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

God is the first and the last. God is the alpha and the omega. God is the beginning and the ending. God is eternal.

God is Omnipresent

That word means that he is everywhere present at the same time.

Psalm 139:7-13

7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.

12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.

God is presently on all points of the globe at the same time. Further then that God fills the entire universe. The scientist released a picture they captured from a telescope that they feel is thousands and thousands of years old. They think if they go back far enough that they can figure out how all this was made. Let me tell you tell you something God was there.

We feel him right now in Waterbury, but he is also in Torrington, Wallingford, Manchester, and Bristol.

We feel him Connecticut but I want you to know that he is moving today all over the United States. He is in Florida, California, Minnesota, and Kentucky.

Not only is he in the United States but he is also in Canada, Guatemala, Ethiopia, Japan, and Russia.

Not only is he in this world but he fills the entire universe, the entire expanse of space, every planet, every moon, every star, every black hole – God fills it. You can go to the moon and God would be there. You can try all of Jupiter’s moons and God would be on every one.

Not only that, but because he is omnipresent he fills all three time relations at the same time. Past, Present, Future

∑ He is presently in the past.

∑ He is presently in the present.

∑ He is presently in the future.

10 min. of/right now/10 min. past

God is presently in the past subduing my past so that the sins that have been covered by his shed blood cannot rise up and harm me.

God is presently in the present and he is protecting me and leading me and guiding me. He is allowing me to lean upon him right now in times of weakness because when I am weak he is strong. Right now he is a very present help in the time of trouble. He will never leave me or forsake me.

God is also presently in the future and he is paving a way for me to walk. He is clearing the obstacles out of the way that would hinder my progress in the Lord. That is why I can say many things about tomorrow I don’t seem to understand, but I know who holds tomorrow and I know who holds my hand.

For this reason I don’t have to fear my past. I am not afraid of the present and I am not concerned about what the future holds for me. Because is omnipresent and he will be with me all the way.

God is Omniscient.

That means he is all knowing. He knows everything there is to know about you. He knows your:

∑ Thoughts

∑ Habits

∑ Likes – Dislikes

∑ Dreams

∑ Desires

∑ Strengths – Weaknesses

The Bible says that he has the hairs on your head numbered. He knows the thing that is making you hurt right now until it seems that your heart would break in two. He knows the thing in your life that concerns you the most. He knows about your concerns for the future.

And he is calling you today and saying, “Come unto me all you that are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.”

∑ All you who are tired of life’s misfortunes

∑ All you who have been hurt by the one’s that you love the most.

∑ All you who feel the weight of the hand that life has dealt you.

Come unto me and lay your head upon my shoulder and I will give you rest.

God is Omnipotent

That means that God is all powerful. He holds all of the power of the world in his hand. He is the almighty God. It was God that:

∑ Parted the Red Sea

∑ Protected the 3 Hebrews in the fire

∑ Shut the mouths of the lions for Daniel

∑ Caused the sun to stand still

∑ Blind to see

∑ Deaf to hear

∑ Lame to walk

∑ Dumb to talk

∑ Heals cancer

∑ Heals aids

∑ Heals the headache

∑ Heals the common cold

He is the almighty God. He created this world. All things were made by him and without him was not anything made that was made.

From nothing he spoke into existence the universe. He created:

∑ Light and darkness

∑ Day and night

∑ The stars and flung them into place

∑ The sun and moon

∑ Trees, grass,

∑ All wildlife

He is the almighty God.

God is Immutable.

That means that God is unchanging.

Malachi 3:6

6 For I am the LORD, I change not;

He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. In a world where change is the only thing that you can count on God remains the same. In an unstable world where everything from the laws of the land to Godly morals are slipping and sliding around and seemingly everything is going down the tubes you can stand upon Jesus Christ the solid rock.

Gods moral nature is In a world with God is

Love hatred

Light darkness

Holiness perversion

Mercy sin

Gentleness violence

Righteousness riotous living

Goodness evil

Perfection chaos

Justice wrong

Faithfulness unfaithfulness

Truth false things

Grace pressure

What an awesome God we serve.

The Bible says that on the sixth day God created man. Out of the dust of the ground God formed man and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul.

Why did God create man? It was because he wanted to reveal himself to someone. It was because God longed to have fellowship, and communion, and relationship with his creation.

In the Bible text that we read today it talks about the fall of mankind. After Adam and Eve sinned they went and tried to cover their nakedness by their own means. They tried to cover their own sin. God comes down during the cool of the day just like any other day and he is wanting to have fellowship with his most prized creation. But Adam and Eve upon hearing the Lord they hide themselves.

You can almost hear the sadness and the frustration in the voice of the Lord as he understands that the relationship with mankind has been broken and destroyed. Adam, where are you???

You might say, “Well how does all of this relate to me.” Because of the fall of Adam we are all born sinners or with a sinful nature.

Romans 5:12

12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Psalm 51:5

5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Romans 3:23

23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Every one of us were born sinners. In fact the Bible tells us that we were dead in trespasses and sins. We were not physically dead but we were spiritually dead. Every man, woman, boy, and girl under the sound of my voice today is made up of three distinct parts. They are body, soul, and spirit. When someone is born their spirit is literally dead. The spirit is that part of us that gives us the ability to have a relationship with God. When we are born that ability is dead.

This creates a void or an emptiness in our lives that longs to be filled. There is a missing part of our lives that we search around day after day to have filled. It’s a missing piece of the puzzle. It’s a craving that we want satisfied.

You can search every corner of this city. You can look from one end of CT to the other. You can search from sea to shining sea and try everything that this world has to offer and still you will not be satisfied for long – because only Jesus can satisfy your soul.

From the time you are born and your life begins there is a call and a voice that starts echoing across the pages of your life – Where are you??

And when you answer the voice it is Jesus that quickens our spirit and brings it back to life again. And you hath he quickened who were dead in trespasses and sins.

If you will listen with me this morning to the word of the Lord perhaps you can hear the voice of the Lord calling you today. Where are you??

Can I tell you today that there are many voices that are calling to you from the world today. They are beckoning to get your attention. Many voices are bidding for us to come in their direction. There are many bright lights that are flashing at us to draw us this way or that way.

So many:

∑ Voices

∑ Choices

∑ Directions

∑ Activities

So many different things to do and experience that if we are not careful and if we are not walking and talking and listening to the Lord Jesus everyday and not just on Sunday, we could make a mistake and listen to the wrong voice. If we are not real careful we could make the wrong choice and go in the wrong direction. So many voices that they all jumble together until we can no longer hear the voice of God.

We hear the voice of:

∑ Drugs

∑ Alcohol

∑ Sex

∑ Hollywood

∑ Suicide

∑ Living life for ourself

All of these voices are calling for you to be associated with them. They all want you to have a part in their fun and freedom. But let me tell you this morning that they will only last for a season and the fun and pleasure will be over all too soon. They may look good right now but Jesus will outshine them all. Nothing can compare to a life lived for Jesus Christ.

Jesus is calling for each one of us this morning to give ourselves completely to him and to live for him wholeheartedly. He is calling for you to live for him all of your days.

Perhaps it was in a church service just like this one that you heard the voice of God calling you for the very first time. You heard that voice so clear – Where are you – I long to have a relationship with you. You responded to that voice that day but since have drifted away and you no longer pay attention to his call. I want to tell you how to hear his voice once again.

Or maybe you have never responded that call from God. Maybe you heard his call but were not sure what it was until now. I want to tell you also how to respond to that call this morning and have a relationship with God.
