At the beginning of this message this morning I want to tell you a little bit about the nature of God. I want to give you some things about God that make Him God.
First of all the Bible teaches us that God is a spirit.
John 4:24
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Secondly God is eternal, immortal and everlasting.
1 Timothy 1:17
Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
God is eternal. He is the first and the last. He has no beginning and he has no ending. You and I will live forever somewhere for eternity but God is the only one that also has no beginning. He is eternal in the past as well as the future. Before the very first stroke of time ever happened God already was.
Thirdly, God is immutable. That means he never changes. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. In this world that everything is changing all the time God remains the same.
Malachi 3:6
For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
In this old world where everything changes from day to day God isn’t changing.
∑ Morals are changing – we just don’t have anymore
∑ The lines of conduct and behavior are being erased
∑ Boundaries that once kept us on the right pathway are being pushed back further and further and finally are being taken down altogether.
∑ What was wrong yesterday is right today. What was right yesterday is wrong today.
Fourthly, God is Omniscient. That means he is all knowing. He is the only wise God. He knows the number of hairs on my head. He knows what you have need of today. He knows what your feeling right now. He knows what tomorrow holds for you. There is no thought that is withheld for Him.
Psalm 139:1-6
1 O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.
2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.
5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.
God is omnipresent. That means he is everywhere present at the same time.
He is in:
∑ Waterbury right now
∑ Danbury
∑ Middletown
∑ Hartford
All at the same time.
He is in:
∑ USA right now
∑ Germany
∑ Guatemala
∑ Japan
All at the same time.
Psalm 139:7-13
7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.
Not only does he fill all points on the globe at the same time but he also fills the entire universe at the same time.
Not only does he fill the universe but he also fills all three time relations at the same time. That means that he is presently in the past, presently in the present and presently in the future all at the same time.
∑ He is presently in the past conquering my old life and covering my past with His blood that he shed at Calvary.
∑ He is presently in the present making a way for me right now. Giving me breath to breathe and causing my heart to beat.
∑ He is presently in the future.
¸ He knows what is in store for me.
¸ He knows what lies just ahead.
¸ He knows what my tomorrows will hold.
The song says many things about tomorrow I don’t seem to understand but I know who holds tomorrow and I know how holds my hand.
12 Timothy 1:12
For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
Lastly, God is omnipotent. That means he is all powerful or he is almighty. Many times in the scripture He is referred to as the Almighty God. He has all the power that there is and no man has power except God gives it to him.
1 Timothy 6:15
Which in his times he shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
Potentate(great authority)
Revelation 19:6
And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
Psalm 115:3
But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.
God does whatever He pleases and he asks no ones permission.
Ephesians 1:11
In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
He doesn’t consult with you or I but He does things according to His own will.
He is omnipotent. He has all power in his hand. There is nothing that He cannot do. There is nothing that is impossible for Him. He is the almighty God. He possesses sovereignty, power, authority and control over all the created order.
Let me preach to you this morning and tell you that whatever your need is today God wants to take care of it. He wants to meet your need.
He wants to do it!! He wants to do it!!!
∑ If you are in need of a miracle he is a miracle worker today and he wants to do it!!
∑ If you need a healing today he is the Lord God that heals and he wants to do it!!
∑ If you need salvation today he is still the savior of your soul and he wants to do it!!
∑ If you are in the middle of a storm in your life he is the peace speaker and he wants to speak peace to your life today. He wants to do it!!
∑ If your in a situation that you don’t see a way out of he is a waymaker and he wants to make a way for you today. He wants to do it.
∑ If you are bound by sin and the habits of this world can I tell you that Jesus Christ wants to deliver you this morning – He wants to do it!!!!!
∑ Whatever your need is today can I tell you that he wants to do it!!
I don’t have a long, drawn out, complex, deep theological study of the word of God today but my message is simply this: He wants to do it!!!
Psalm 46:1
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
VERY present help to those in trouble. We know he is omnipresent but he is very present to those who are in trouble or to those who are in need.
Present help means a help that has been found to be reliable. It’s been a proven and reliable stronghold in the past so that any calamity in the future is no reason to fear.
He is a very present help in the time of trouble.
The power of the Lord is present to do anything that we need Him to do today.
Luke 6:19
And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.
Mark 6:5-6
5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
Let me tell you today that - He wants to do it!! But it is now up to us whether or not we will believe that He has the power to do it.
In closing let me give you some scripture that tells us he wants to do it.
Luke 12:32
Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Ephesians 1:5-9
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
Philippians 2:13
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
2 Thessalonians 1:11
Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:
James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
My friend let me tell you that he wants to do it. He has a limitless supply of power today. We are not here today serving and worshiping a weak, uninformed, ineffective, frail and feeble God. I’m not talking about a God who has a storehouse that is almost empty. But this is what the scripture says about our God.
Ephesians 3:20
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
He wants to do it!!
I’m talking to someone who came here today and you said I’ve got to do it on my own.
Let me tell you he wants to do it!!
I’m talking to someone who your down to your last hope and even that doesn’t look good.
He wants to do it!!
I’m talking to someone who is desperate this morning for a touch from almighty God.
He wants to do it!!
I’m talking to someone who is hungry for more of God in your life.
He wants to do it!!
I’m talking to someone who likes what you feel here today and you want some of it – he wants to do it!!
