I have a Plan,
Don’t Get Sidetracked
Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God has a plan for your life. His plan for you is
1. Good
2. A Future
3. Has Hope
Nothing mentioned about sadness, depression. Also there is nothing in there about the past
SO, the question of the day is...how do I know that I am on the right plan.
2 Timothy reveals some of the plan that God has laid out for us.
1st of all, we know that our #1 purpose on this earth is to commune with God. Even though sin entered the world, the purpose of man has never changed. We were placed here to commune with God. And secondly we need to invite others to the party.
So, with that in mind lets look at our text.
2 Timothy 2:Â
14¡†Remind everyone of these things, and command them in God’s name to stop fighting over words. Such arguments are useless, and they can ruin those who hear them. 15¡†Work hard so God can approve you. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth. Ê
1. We must be willing to GIVE UP
STOP BASING YOUR FAITH ON WORDS!
Let’s understand this 1st of all,
Religion is talked about
Relationship is lived about
You can talk all you want about your faith, but if people don’t see it, they certainly won’t believe, it.
One of the main turn offs of Christianity is the fact that we can’t seem to shut our mouths We want to argure about meaningless things.
Your faith is NOT
What you say
What you do
Who you know
How you look
Not even who you witness to
BUT, IT IS WHO YOU ARE.
2. FIRE UP
Paul commands Timothy to WORK HARD.
He told him to be aggressive in his faith, stop waiting for tomorrow. 1 Timothy 6:12 tells us to fight the good fight.
BOXER SMOKER STORY!
Some of your Bibles uses the word study, correctly translated means "to make a part of you!"
God is looking for your very best. If you feel like your not getting your fair share from God, honestly evaluate what your giving Him to work with.
3. Straighten Up
Correctly explaining the word of truth.
Some words get lost in the switching over of languages. Understand it this way.
holding a straight course with the word of truth.
What you are doing is matching what you are saying.
When you are in the air or you drive by a plowed field you don’t see lines that weave in and out from one another. You see lines that are straight, evenly spaced, going in the same direction.
There is a fail safe plan to total happiness, and complete success. We will probably never see that day on this earth because of our sinful nature.
Let me show you quickly:
Proverbs 3:6 tells us that he will make our paths straight
Proverbs 11:6 tells us that righteousness makes for a straight path.
We have been told to be in the world, but not to be distracted by it.
You have a destiny, don’t get sidetracked from everything that God has in store for you.
