I Corinthians 3:1-3 says, “And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto , even as unto s in Christ. (2) I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. (3) For ye are yet : for wheras there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not , and walk as men?”
I believe that in our Christian world we have too many baby Christians that never grow up. This morning the Holy Spirit has allowed me to let you through this message see whether or not you are a baby Christian. God can use the simplest things to help us to understand His Word. We are going to take a look at what happens to babies in their first year of life. Then we are going to compare that baby’s life with a born again in Christ.
ONE MONTH OLD
In the first month babies are able to lift their heads briefly in a prone position. They also can focus on a rattle in line of their vision. Now baby Christians are also able to lift their heads briefly in a prone position. That means, little by little, day after day, they are beginning to lift their heads to listen to Jesus and depend on Him. . They can’t fully hold up their heads, only briefly.
Sometimes when you have problems, you don’t lift up your head briefly. You rather sit there and cry about your problem. Instead of lifting up your head to Jesus, you’d rather worry about your troubles. How long are you going to be One month old. You will become like a baby that never grows up.
Born again believers also focuses on something to get their vison in line. They focus on Jesus. The Bible says in Col. 3:2 “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” You need to focus on Jesus.
TWO MONTHS OLD
In the second month, babies can lift their heads halfway, frequently. They also are able to watch responsively. Christians, let me tell you something, the more you lift up your heads to Jesus, the more you will be able to praise His name. But if you never turn to Jesus, the problem will always be their and you will never grow up. The Bible says in Ps. 24:7,8 “Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lifted up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is the King of glory? Yahweh (The LORD) strong and mighty; Yahweh (The LORD) mighty in battle.”
Yahweh is the LORD, God the Father (Ps. 68:4;KJV) Yahweh who is God the Father had a Son and his name in Hebrew is Yahshua; Yah = Yahweh; shua = our salvation, which means “Yahweh our salvation. But in the Greek it is Jesus but it has the exact same meaning as Yahshua. Now the name of Jesus has been given power from heaven. All you have to do is just call on him. Like I said, these babies watch responsively.
The softest sound you make will cause babies to turn their attention to the direction of the sound. What if we had a world full of watchful Christians always ready for the devil’s attack. The Bible says, “watch and pray.” (I Pet. 4:7; Lk. 21:36) There are Christians who are watching but what they are watching is not the return of Jesus nor are they watching out for Satan’s attacks. They are watching someone else’s life and are trying to find out what’s wrong with it.
They say things like “Girl, did you see her.” “Yea, child, I did.” Watch out for the Devil and his demons. Watch and pray. Keep your minds renewed by God’s Word. (Rom 12:1,2) If you don’t , you will stay two months old all of your life. You will be like a baby that never grows up.
THREE MONTHS
In the third month, babies can recognize their mothers as separate from themselves. You know, it’s a sad thing to claim to be a child of God for more than 3 years and you still can’t recognize who God is. If a baby at three months can recognize his/her mother, then what about the Christians. Too many of them don’t acknowledge God. God said in His Word, in Prov. 3:5,6. “Trust in Yahweh (The LORD) with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him (Yahweh, the heavenly Father) and He shall direct thy paths.”
When you began to deny yourself and follow Jesus, something is going to happen. John the Baptist said in John 3:30 “He (Jesus) must increase, But I (John the Baptist) must decrease.” You can stay three months old if you want to, but you will become like a baby that never grows up.
FOURTH MONTH
In the fourth month, babies are able reach out for things. They are always looking for something to play with. Four month old babies also are able to laugh out loud. They are able to lift up head and chest when in a lying down posture.
When Christians are in the stage of a Four month old baby they will began to believe that if they will stay in the Word of God, they will be able to reach out to Jesus every day. They will be able to reach out to the ones who are lost. They will be able to reach out to the ones who need comfort. This is the character of born again believers who have been saved and growing in Christ (The Anointed One, and His Anointing), and grace.
Jesus said in Matt. 5:8 “Blessed (Anointed with power, and the Holy Ghost, to succeed or prosper in any area of your life.) Are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”
FIVE MONTHS
In the fifth month, babies are able to increase their social reaction. They began to bear weight on their legs. In this stage of Christians life they will also increase in their social reaction. They won’t care about what people are going to say when they began to praise Yahweh (The LORD).
They are not worried about who’s looking at them. All they want to do is give God the praise. They just want to thank HIM for a new life. They want to thank HIM for being born again. You see they know what the Bible says, in Rom. 8:15 “For you have not received the spirit of again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry ABBA Father” or DADDY, DADDY.
You see the baby Christians will also begin to bear weight on their legs. Theirs are kind of different. The more they stay in the Word of God is the more they eat the Word of God, and that is the only way they can gain weight. The Bible says, in Ps. 84:5 Blessed (Anointed with power, and the Holy Ghost, to succeed or prosper in any area of your life) is the man whose strength is in thee, in whose heart are the ways of them.”
A lot of Christians are at this stage in their spiritual life. They have strength in their legs, but they are not able to walk yet. So instead of eating more of God’s Word, they just stop right there, with that little strength. I want to tell you that you can’t stop, because it will cause you to become like a baby that never grows up.
SIX MONTHS
In six months, babies are able to hold their heads steady. They can, fed themselves, ers. When Christians are in this stage of their life, they can also hold their heads steady. They use to shake their heads saying no to Christ. But the more they learned about Jesus, the more they became firm in their ways. You can hold your head steady, because you know that the Bible says, “.....Be ye steadfast unmoveable always abounding in the work of the Lord....” (I Cor.15:58) You can hold your head steady because you know that you are on solid ground in Christ Jesus. You can hold your head steady because you know can’t nobody take away your salvation. Feed yourself the Word of God and study to show yourself approved of God.
SEVEN MONTHS
In the seventh month, babies are able to imitate speech sounds. Christians at this stage in their life can imitate Christ. Jesus said in John 15:7 “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” Your words will either put you in or your words will set you free. So if Christ words or God’s words become your words, then nothing shall be impossible to you.
That is the promise of God, you will be able to imitate Christ. If you are always making negative statements like “I can’t do anything.” “It’s hard for me to love.” “I will never be able to do that.” You are not imitating Christ Jesus or the Word of God. The Bible says, Phil 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
EIGHTH THROUGH THE TWELFTH MONTH
In the eighth through the twelfth months, babies are able to say dada and mama, not specifically, but they are able to say it. They are also able to pull themselves up to a standing position and begin to walk. Christians don’t you know that when you are in your 8th thru the 12th stage you are able to say Daddy. God is your Father.
You are His child. You are heirs of God, and joint-heirs of Jesus the Christ (Rom. 8:17). Call on your heavenly Father. Every time Jesus prayed he always called God his father. When Jesus taught the disciples how to pray he told them to say “Our Father who art in heaven..” If you know who your father is, and you can say his name, call on Him.
Why don’t you talk to Him every chance you get. Your heavenly farther will listen when no one else will. Your Heavenly father will comfort you, when you don’t have any friends. You Heavenly father will give you the right advice, when you have a question. Call on the Father in Jesus Name. Grow up In Jesus, Grow up in the Word, Grow up in the Holy Spirit, Grow up in your prayer life. Grow up in your Christian walk.
