Arise and Take Dominion
Dominion is a topic that many of us talk about but few of us really possess.
Dominion in its simplest form is power, authority or control over something or someone. It is the ability to request or command and expect a fulfillment of that appeal. To have dominion is to rule, to be in charge.
For a saint of God understanding dominion is crucial to his walk with God.
A lack of understanding in this area could cost him spiritually and naturally so.
Spiritual dominion is not arbitrary ruler ship. It is not about going around commanding a demanding at your own discretion. It is not about brow beating anybody into subjection to your whims and irrational desires.
Spiritual dominion falls under the auspices of God. It is only effective and effectual when it submits totally to the will of God.
Dominion is about knowing who you are in Christ and understanding that in you, through Him is the power to lay hold onto the promises of God and possess them until the day of Christ. (this is key)
Dominion is understanding that you can do what God said you can do,
have what God said you can have
and be what God said you can be regardless to what things looks like, seems like, sounds or appear like.
Spiritual dominion begins in you. You will never be able to exercise power or authority over anything until you have first conquered self.
Flesh is our greatest enemy.
The church today appears to be on fire with spiritual warfare.
Going against demonic activities, battling demons and rebuking the forces of evil, but until you conquer your flesh you are no match for the enemy.
The bible clearly states:
“Present your bodies a living sacrifice holy and acceptable unto God which is your reasonable service and be not conformed to this world but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
The word of God has not changed!
Except we first take dominion over ourselves, over habits and desires and unbridled lusts and passions that are in us we can never expect to have dominion over anything else.!
We must crucify, dominate and control flesh and make it bow to the dictates of God.
In the word of God today we find the story of a man by the name of Caleb. A man who the bible claims was a man of great faith and courage.
A man who was not born a full-fledged Israelite but accepted and received as one because of his acceptance and continuance in the laws of God
Six different times in scripture you will find that the word described him as a man who fully followed after the Lord.
He accepted God’s laws, he submitted his judgments and he believed in his promises.
This man was born and raised during Israel’s last years of bondage in Egypt. So, he suffered some of the same things they suffered while in slavery.
He came out of Egypt with them and he stood with Joshua against the evil report of the spies.
He wasn’t moved by popular opinion or circumstances that appeared out of control.
Even when confronted with the possibility of death.
When a mob of his own brethren threatened to stone him and Joshua
He stood firm on the word of God convincing them that
“If the Lord delights in us He will give us the Land!”
You have got to believe God. Stand on his word of promise. You can’t afford to be intimidated by what things appear to be or had bad things seem to get
This man was not like others
He didn’t think like others
He didn’t act like others
“He had another spirit in him”
You have to choose to be different
Choose to walk to the beat of another drummer
People who take dominion are leaders not followers
They learn through their test and trial
They learn through their experiences and they believe God to the fulfilling of his promises
As Joshua began to reiterate the division of the land
Caleb stepped forward and declared give me this mountain
Give me what God said belongs to me
Give me my place of dominion
Give me my land, my space, my territory
His concern was not about what others wanted, what they possessed or what they would have.
He wasn’t concerned about the problems he would face
Or the battles that he would have to fight
He knew there were giants
He had seen them,
By now, 45 years later, he had probably dreamed about them
Prayed about them and most likely planned a strategy to defeat them
He didn’t discount God
God had kept him
He had kept him strong, he kept him alive, he kept him able in mind and in body
Caleb was ready to take dominion
How many times in your life has the enemy tried to destroy you
He set you up for failure
He caused accidents, injuries and sickness, but God kept you alive, He kept your able in sound mind and strength
Ready for this day, this hour, this season
All those years he had kept himself
For 40 years while in the wilderness with no place to call home, he walked around that same mountain knowing it was his, waiting for a chance to obtain it.
For 40 years he listened to others as they continued to murmur and complain, believing in God who would keep his promises
For 40 years he lived without comfort and adequate shelter just waiting on God who never fails
This man waited until all the faithless died out
He waited until all the murmurers and complainers died out
He waited and while others grew old and weary and died of old age
He waited until God had somebody he could work with
Somebody who could rise up and enter the next dominion
“Be steadfast unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord for as much as you know your labor is not in vain in the Lord”
You must take dominion.
You must take control
Stop bowing to things you don’t have to bow to
Stop accepting things you don’t have to accept
Bring your body under control
Bring your mind under control
Bring your spirit under control
Watch what you say
Get your attitude together
Stand for righteousness
Stand for holiness
Uphold God’s word
Rejoice in troubles
Worship with commitment
And stand in authority
Whatever that mountain is in front of you, take dominion
Don’t let it stand in your way
Don’t let it keep you from your place of power and dominion in God
“I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me”
This mountain represented a new life
An end to old things, and old ways old problems
It represented new dimensions, new territory, new realms of discovery and new experiences with God.
Rise up and take dominion
So God can establish us and prove us for His name’s sake
“The people that know their God shall be strong and do exploits”
It’s time to get up and take dominion.
Until you realize that you are in control that thing that you dealing with will always control you.
It will always have the upper hand in your life.
It will keep you from your blessings and from your place in God.
“He that is in us is greater than he that is in the world.”
God is greater than every problem, every habit, every sin, every force, and every problem that stands in your way.
Caleb said “ If the Lord delights in us He will give us the Land”
God wants to grant us new territory, new places in him. But they will never be realized until we take dominion where we are now.!
