Bible’s 9-11
Revelation 9:11
"They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek, Apollyon."
Prologue
"The world changed since 9-11". That’s true. It was horrible. It brought pain, hate, division, uncertainty over all people; especially over all people who live in conflict countries. "War is at hand", my question: "Is it really necessary to declare a war?" I personally can’t answer this question until I really know what is happening?
I. What was the Bible tell us?
A. Devil’s scene
"a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth." There was something from the sky "fall upon" something [gigantic furnace, "long shaft" in AMP.; is it WTC? I believe so.] on earth.
The word "a star" denotes to a key-person. This man is mastermind for destruction. But the real architect was state in verse 11, "Abaddon [a-bad-Don, or, a bad lord]or Apollyon". We are fighting one hell of a demon here! Bible teaches us that what happen in the spirit realm determine what will happen in physical realm. That " a star" just a key-person to open the bottomless pit.
The prelude is "smoke" (v.2) rising frm the bottomless pit which darkens the sun and air. The essence of the attack comes from the locust-like creatures that are manifested from the smoke. 9-11, how sadly it was, it wasn’t the real attack. The real attack is what happen after that: the hatred, the suspicious, the anger, revenge, the fear that followed, unhealing heart break. That is the real attack. Not the body, but the soul of a man.
B. The target: HUMANKIND
- to hurt, to harm (v.4)
- agony (v.5)
- unbearing pressure, feel want to die (v.6)
- torment (v.10)
BUT "only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads." 2 Tim 2:19
C. What they looked like in Joel 1 and 2? (tormentor)
- locust (Joel 1:4; Rev. 9:7-10), talks about the "wave of destruction" they brings to (not just America) all the nations in this world. It began with America, then Afghanistan, then Iraq, Israel, North Korea, Pakistan, until they involve EVERY NATIONS to "the war-zone"
- teeth of a lion (Joel 1:6; Rev 9:8)
Daniel 7:4 said about teeth of a lion which attack man’s heart
Isa 59:1-2, "1 Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save,
nor his ear too dull to hear.
2 But your iniquities have separated
you from your God;
your sins have hidden his face from you,
so that he will not hear."
- the dark smoke (Joel 2:2)
talks about the force of darkness works so intensively, and all they do is to hide God’s revelation (sun).
- like horses (Joel 2:4; Rev 9:7) sound of chariots (Joel 2:5; Rev 9:9)
War in heavenly! It come fast and plenty of them, just like flood. Wake up Church, we are at war now!!!
Joel 1:5-9, "8 Mourn like a virgin in sackcloth
grieving for the husband of her youth.
9 Grain offerings and drink offerings are cut off from the house of the LORD. The priests are in mourning,
those who minister before the LORD ."
Joel 1:13,14, "14 Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the LORD your God, and cry out to the LORD. "
Joel 2:11-17, "... 11 The LORD thunders at the head of his army; his forces are beyond number, and mighty are those who obey his command. The day of the LORD is great; it is dreadful. Who can endure it?... 15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a holy fast, call a sacred assembly. 16 Gather the people, consecrate the assembly; bring together the elders, gather the children, those nursing at the breast. Let the bridegroom leave his room and the bride her chamber. 17 Let the priests, who minister before the LORD , weep between the temple porch and the altar."
- power of death behind them (Joel 2:3; Rev 9:10)
talks about the power to change Eden to desert. It talks about the power to deceive mankind (like Eve in Eden), so mankind will rebell against God.
- women’s hair (Rev 9:8)
talks about quantity of sin (long-hair). To take Christ’s glory from His church.
- golden crown (Rev 9:8)
talks about quality of sin.
D. For How Long?
Revelatin 9:5, 10 said for 5 months. 5 months is simbolic of a God-ordained period of time. It’s not necessarily restricted to 5-calendar months, in fact, Joel 2:25 said "years".
It hurts me to know this painfull period will take years to end.
5 months speak about "Time before restoration"
- It took 150-days (5 months) for The Flood to end in the days of Noah, Gen 7:21-24
- It took 5 months for God to dealed with Zecharia unbelieve, Luke 1:24. Jesus called John The Baptist as Elijah, the restoration.
(Next Part will talk about: Why all this happen? God’s Promise. What Must We Do? and Healing The Hurting Heart.)
