What’s On Your Mind, Whatever it is, God knows It? (Psalm 94:11)
God has blessed each of us with a mind. There is no one created by God who can negate the fact that they have been created to think. Being fully aware that God is aware of all of our thoughts, why is that so many Christians fail to take advantage of the fact that we have something that can make things happen if we were to only utilize it?
We’re all valued in the sight of God. The verse read earlier also alerts us to the fact that while we are valued in God’s sight, God also has privy to everything that we could think about.
What’s on your mind today? What are you thinking about on this blessed day that God has given you yet another opportunity to praise God’s holy and righteous name?
Rather than viewing the fact that God knows all of our thoughts in a negative manner, each of us should be pleased to know that we serve a God fully aware of our situations.
I’m really surprised to encounter so many individuals not tapping into that powerful reservoir called the mind that God has given us to use. I say that with conviction because I also have been short changing myself when it comes to using my mind in every area of my life. Yes, we may say that we do think before we do things. That may be the case but
I wonder if we really take full advantage of the gift that we were given so generously by God.
Do you not know that whatever problem you may have today, it can be remedied with a thought? Are you not aware that those hopes and dreams that were placed on your heart can be realized but they must be acted upon once they have been placed in our minds?
We have something in our corner that we must start making use of if we have not begun to do so. We definitely serve a God interested in our well being. We serve a God more than willing to supply us with whatever needs we have in this life.
What’s on your mind today? What are you thinking about at this very moment? I ask that question because your response will definitely determine where your heart is.
Consider for a few moments some common clichés that we have privy to. Have you ever heard, ‘My mind is playing tricks on me?’ What about the R&B song, ‘Been thinking about my baby and I ain’t got time for nothing else?’ Yes, someone can recall, ‘Your body is here with me, but your mind is on the other side of town, you’ve been messing me around.’
I use those illustrations to lift up the fact that our minds play a key role in our lives daily whether we are in our worship or simply carrying out our daily obligations. Knowing that the God of creation is fully aware of our thoughts and has the ability to meet our needs, I think that we should more intentional about exercising the tool that God has
provided each of us with.
Someone may be saying, “I don’t see how our minds have anything to do with what receive or do not receive from God.” I beg to differ. On countless occasions in cripture you recall that much of what occurred in the lives of God’s people occurred as
a result of an inspired thought. If it was a positive thought, you can rest assure that it came from God. That’s why the Psalmist utters in Psalm 139:23,24 “Search me O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts, See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
What comes us in our minds are critical. It is this information or data that propels us into action. I pray that we’re using our minds to maximize our relationship with God, and one another. I also pray that we are using our minds to allow creative thinking to move us into the direction that God would have each of us to go in.
What’s on your mind today? Is it positive or negative? Is it uplifting or is it something that could bring someone down? The good part about all of this is this, if we are not positive with our thoughts, this can be changed. If we are not uplifted from a positive standpoint, this too can be different.
I do have one word of caution to the people of God. Please be careful that we don’t fall into the trap of thinking that we know what’s best for our lives independent of God. God clearly discounts that by stating in Isaiah 55:8,9 that, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
This is an ideal time to allow the thoughts of God insatiate your mind and transform your life in all areas. The thoughts of God are contained in scripture. The waysof God are outlined for all of us to emulate. Each believer is challenged today to monitor personal thoughts and make sure that they jive with the thoughts of God. There is no reason for anyone to feel down today, God’s thoughts tell us that this is counter to God’s way.
There is no reason for any of us to be stressed today, God’s thoughts from God’s word tells us that this is counter to God. Even if you are at a point in your life where you have need of a particular blessing, I want to encourage you to remember that God has already guaranteed each believer that they would receive whatever it is that one stands in need of. What’s on your mind today church, whatever it is, God knows it.
Having said that, let’s now begin utilizing our minds in a more proactive manner. Just as we nourish our bodies daily with food for our physical bodies, let’s begin nourishing our minds. If you have negative thoughts, please know that God can assist
to remove those thoughts and replace them with positive thoughts.
If you have doubts today, please know that the God of creation can ease all doubt. If you have need today, focus on the God of creation’s plan for humanity and hopefully that will help encourage you to see beyond your present circumstance.
Because God knows all of our thoughts, God can assist us with each of them. Whatever is on your mind today, please know that God is aware and able to assist us with it if we sincerely open ourselves up to the presence of God through the medium of the Holy Spirit, through God’s written word and through circumstances that we encounter on a day to day basis.
