Characteristics of a Spiritual Christian
I. A Changed Life – II Cor. 5:17
If a person is going to devote himself to God – To witness – To serve the Lord – They must be believers. They must be saved. Many people have tried to win souls or to serve God but they themselves are Lost.
II. A Clean Life – II Timothy 2:21
If we are to have God’s maximum blessings and power on our life, we need to be clean outwardly and inwardly. All our secret sins should be brought under subjection to Christ. Sin in your life will deteriorate your zeal for God.
III. A Surrendered Life – Rom. 12:1
It is one thing to have a clean life and yet another thing to be surrendered.
Phil. 1:21 “For me to live is Christ, to die is gain.”
Ill. In the NT was a young lad who brought his 5 loaves and 2 fishes to the Jesus.
IV. A Burdened Life – Rom. 9:1-3
1. The more we witness the more burdened we will become for the lost.
2. The more we separate ourselves from the world; the more we will hate sin. We will become jealous for God.
V. A Compassionate Life – Matt. 9:36-38
1. People will not put you off if the see that you love them and have compassion.
2. The fruit of the Spirit is love.
VI. A Stirred Life – I Cor. 9:22
Billy Sunday was asked the secret of his success. It was said that he walked over to the window and pointed to the masses of people and said, “They are going to Hell. – If there is any secret to my preaching, it is that I believe men are going to Hell.”
VII. A Persevering Life – I Cor. 2:1-4
Phil 3:13-14
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
VIII. An Enlightened Life – Ps. 119:130
A Spiritual Christian is in the Bible. He reads it – He memorizes it – He meditated upon it – and applies it to his life.
IX. A Praying Life – Jer. 33:3
God is a prayer answering God
X. A Spirit Filled Life – Acts 1:8
Zech 4:6 says “….Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
