It is obvious by looking at the world today that we are definitely living in the end times. People are talking about it, making movies, and writing books all about the last days. We see prophesies being fulfilled that Jesus and the prophets said would come to pass. But, as the coming of the Lord approaches, there are some things we need to do in order to make ourselves ready.
In the text, Jeremiah tells of some things that are going on today. False prophesies are being told, priests (preachers) are doing what they want instead of God, and the worst part is, the people love having it this way. How true this is going on today. But, rest assure, God will have the final word on this, and it will be sooner than we know.
WHAT WE NEED TO DO ABOUT THE LAST DAYS
I.Enjoy it!
It is certain the world we live in if full of trouble. There is sorrow everywhere you turn. But for the child of God, this is the greatest time we have ever known. The church is not going down, but is in fact getting stronger! Jesus is preparing his bride for the union to the bride groom.
As we see the travail of this generation, Jesus has made special provisions for us, by sending an enormous outpouring of His spirit on us. JOEL SAYS "in the last days I will pour out my spirit on all flesh..." So, while the devil is moving so strongly on earth, God is sending a revival all over the world! It is the most amazing move from Heaven we have seen, as the Gospel is being preached in places that one time seemed impossible. And, dead churches are coming to life! Oh yes, we as Christians need to enjoy living in the end!
II. Get ready for the end.
Jesus told us in an hour you think not, the son of man will appear in the clouds of glory. Countless other New Testament writers reminds us that Jesus is coming as a thief in the night. It is sad to say that we spend more time trying to figure out how the end is going to come than we do getting ready for it. Rest assured, we may not have all the answers about the end, but we do have a way to be prepared for it. And that is to accept Jesus, and live for Him.
Often times, we want to try a little sin here and there, and sometimes give in to temptation. But, imagine if the Lord would come while you are doing wrong? Oh, we need to constantly keep our guard. We must be ready for the rapture. If there is any question as to whether or not we are saved, we need to get saved.
III.Usher it in.
Revelation 22:20 says "He which testifieth these things sayeth, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come Lord Jesus." John knew how wonderful it would be for the Lord to return even in his day. But, much more for us, our prayer should be, come Lord Jesus.
The only hope we have left here is for the Lord to take us out. When we wake up and realize our children are going to war zones (called schools), when we know our leaders are taking us down a imoral path of destruction, when we realize that Satan is working through so many to destroy this earth, we will figure out that the best thing that could happen to us is the rapture!
One of the most unscriptural songs says, wait a little longer please Jesus. For, Paul said the Lord the righteouss judge shall give a crown of life not to him only, but to all those who love His appearing. We need to constantly pray, come lord Jesus.
Concl.
The bottom line is we can experience God’s glory as Christians in the last days. As sinners, we can be born again, and should be, for very soon a great trumpet will sound, and if your not ready you will be left behind.
