HOW TO KNOW GOD
The fool has said in his heart there is no God. Ps 14:1. Many people today have their own ideas about God. Atheist, no God. Many people think of God as granddaddy, sit up on my lap and everthing will be alright. Religious, everything from God don’t care what we do just as long as we believe to God puts us under a microscope and every little thing we do if we do wrong we are going to hell. Let’s look at what God says about gaining knowledge about Him from His Word.
1. PEOPLE GET TO KNOW GOD AS THEY KNOW THE WORD OF GOD
A. God’s word tell us that not a one of us is righteous. Rom 3:10
B. There is none that seeks God. Romans 3:11 there is none that seeketh after God.
C. God tells us He will not be mocked, and that sin brings death. Gal 6:7-8 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. Ro:5:12: Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned
2. PEOPLE GET TO KNOW GOD AS THEY KNOW GOD’S WILL.
A. God hates sin. Romans 6:23 The wages of sin is death, God loves the sinner: but the gift of God is eternal life. Ro:5:8: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
B. God doesn’t want one sinner to go to hell. Joh:3:16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Joh:3:17: For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
C. God’s will is that everyone gets saved - 2Pe:3:9: The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
3. PEOPLE GET TO KNOW GOD AS THEY KNOW THE WORK OF GOD
A. The work of God provided The Saviour for every sinner. 1Jo:4:14: And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
B. The work of God provided a way for you to know your need for Jesus - Joh:16:7: Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. Joh:16:8: And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:Joh:16:9: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Joh:16:10: Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
Joh:16:11: Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
C. The work of God provides messengers to the unsaved - Joh:20:21: Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. Ac:1:8: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me Ro:10:13: For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Ro:10:14: How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
