FIVE ASPECTS OF FAITH
1. TRUTH:
Romans 10:17.
The word of God is the foundation for faith. Truth is an indispensable element of faith. Unless we know the truth we have no basis for our faith. We must know the truth .Faith comes by hearing the word of God. As our knowledge of the truth grows deeper our faith will also grow stronger.
2. TRUST:
Romans 10:10.
Faith involves trust. Mere knowledge of the truth is not faith . Faith is commitment to the truth with all confidence. When we trust the word of God we will act upon His word. We will believe His promises and face life with confidence. We will not live in fear and doubt and anxiety and perplexity.
3. TOIL:
Hebrews.2:17, 11:7.
Having faith does not mean we don’t do our duty. True faith will inspire us to be active in serving God. Faith in Noah’s life meant hard work as he prepared an ark in obedience to God. Faith should move us to action.
4. TRIAL:
I.Peter.1:7.
Faith will be tested. Trials are normal experiences of faith. Having great faith does not mean that everything will be smooth and easy. Suffering and pain can often be trials of our faith. They help us to become strong and pure.
5. TORTURE
Hebrews.11:36,37.
God in his sovereign will allows some to be tortured and even martyred for their faith. Such people are not to be despised because they were not delivered miraculously. God honours them and gives them a good report.
