Will God Laugh at Your Calamity?
Saul was once the anointed of God! He stood head and shoulders above every man in Israel, He had led many victorious campaigns and sired a son (Jonathan) who was a man of God in his own right.
Saul’s downward course:
1.) Samuel rebuked him for exercising the Priest’s office. (1 Sam. 13:9)
2.) God’s guidance left Saul after disobedience in the matter of the Amalekites.
(1 Sam. 15:20-23, 28:6)
3.) He lost the Kingdom. (1 Sam. 15:27-28)
4.) He became tormented by a spirit. (1 Sam. 16:14)
5.) Seeking guidance from this necromancer ultimately cost him his life (1 Chr. 10:13)
- Committed suicide. (1 Sam. 31:4)
We must learn that disobedience to God no matter how small does not pay!!!
We must learn this lesson in the midst of many radical ideas about relationship with God.
God may abandon any man in his hour of trouble if he abandons God in his hour of prosperity. (People don’t want to hear this message!!!!!)
THE BIBLE SAYS SO! GOD SAID THAT HE WOULD - THAT IS ENOUGH FOR ME!!
Pr.1:23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you. 24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; 25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: 26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; 27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. 28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: 29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord: 30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. 31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. 32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. 33 But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
It is sheer foolishness to think that God must help us in need when we won’t obey Him!!!!
The world around us teaches that there must be moral right, not lawlessness! (God can’t honor it)
WHAT COULD GOD SAY TO OTHERS IF HE LETS YOU GET AWAY WITH IT????
WOULD GOD HAVE TO REPENT FOR THOSE HE HAS ALREADY JUDGED???
1.) Will God repent to SAUL? 1S.16:14 But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord troubled him. // 1S.28:6 And when Saul enquired of the Lord, the Lord answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.
2.) Will God repent to SAMSON? Jud.16:20 And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the Lord was departed from him.
3.) Will God repent to ISRAEL? Ps.81:12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts lust: an they walked in their own counsels. // Ac.7:41 And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands. 42 Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?
4.) Will God repent to HOMOSEXUALS AND OTHER REBELS? Ro.1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
This abandonment is in complete alignment with all of the promises of God!!!
Destiny depends on character!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Saul! Samson, Israel, YOU!)
Three choices which Saul could have made in his perplexity:
1.) Sit hopelessly awaiting the doom he knew would come.
2.) He could have faith and repentance and commit the matter to God.
3.) He could appeal to Hell itself for an answer! (A return to the world)
* You have the same choices!!!!
Saul was never given an answer!
The day for doing was in the past! (Result of his self-will)
This silence from God is not a silence of indifference, nor of inability to hear, nor of weakness, nor of perplexity, it is the silence of refusal, of rejection, of displeasure, of abandonment!!!
Saul’s sentence of rejection is reconfirmed by the apparition of Samuel!!!
Saul seems to be in a spiritual stupor and can’t reckon his misfortune! (You?)
Sin always leaves it’s victim numbed by it’s bite.
Saul has no answer to Samuel’s charge, his dumbness consents to the truth!!!! (Guilty)
How much more those who must stand before God after this service!!!!!!
(1 Cor. 9:27 Even in ministry Paul kept his body in control to keep from becoming a castaway !)
Believers must win the lost!!!!
