Jesus encountered a demoniac in the country of the Gerasenes/Gadarenes.
Demons in close association with people leave their mark upon humanity.
What is the legacy of demons in close association with people?

COMPANION DRIVEN(:29-30)
—Explanation:(:29-30)
:29—“For He had been commanding the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For it had seized him many times; & he was bound with chains & shackles & kept under guard; & yet he would burst his fetters & be driven by the demon into the desert.”
:30—“And Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Legion”; for many demons had entered him.”
“Legion”—A body of soldiers whose number differed at different times—From over 3000 to 6000 men.
Of one mind so that one can speak as all.
‘Misery loves company’—
‘In league together’—Satan is missionary too!

1Cor. 15:33—“Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.”
Isa. 1:23—“Your rulers are rebels, And companions of thieves; Everyone loves a bribe, And chases after rewards. They do not defend the orphan, Nor does the widow’s plea come before them.”

DESTINY DRIVEN(:31)
—Explanation:(:31) Abyss
:31—“And they were entreating Him not to command them to depart into the abyss.”
“The Abyss”—abussoV—Bottomless, unbounded.
Rev. 20:3—“& threw him[Satan] into the abyss, & shut it & sealed it over him, so that he should not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed; after these things he must be released for a short time.”
Rev. 9—A demon will release demonic forces held in the “Bottomless pit/Abyss” to torment mankind.
Jude 1:6—“6 And angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day.”
“Abyss” is a temporary holding place keeping the worst of the worst away from mankind.
—Argumentation:
1Cor. 15:54-57—“But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, & this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, “DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP in victory. “O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?” The sting of death is sin, & the power of sin is the law; but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

:33—“And the demons came out from the man & entered the swine; & the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake, & were drowned.”

2Cor. 10:3-6—“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying speculations & every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, & we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, & we are ready to punish all disobedience, whenever your obedience is complete.”

—Explanation/Argumentation:(:34-37) Acceptance of the Unacceptable
:34—“And when the herdsmen saw what had happened, they ran away & reported it in the city & out in the country.”
Reported an unusual/bizarre event
:35—“And the people went out to see what had happened; & they came to Jesus, & found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting down at the feet of Jesus, clothed & in his right mind; & they became frightened.”
Knew they had to answer to this One.
:36—“And those who had seen it reported to them how the man who was demon-possessed had been made well.”
:37—“And all the people of the country of the Gerasenes & the surrounding district asked Him to depart from them; for they were gripped with great fear; & He got into a boat, & returned.”
“Asked Him to depart from them”—
Status Quo should be QUESTIONED!
