Intro: I know so many good church folks who are afraid to declare with their mouths what the Word of God says about them. Oh, they will boldly talk about every other thing that don’t concern them but, for some reason or other, they are so afraid to Confess what God and His Word says. If you don’t hear anything else I say today, please hear this; there’s Power in what you say out of your Mouth! Let’s see what God’s Word say about it. I have two points to give you:
I. Words of destruction are a curse unto us (“Death and Life are in the power of the tongue…” Prov. 18:21)
a. Destructive words are like an uncontrollable fire (“And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity; so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.” James 3:5-6)
1. It only takes a little spark (like a small, ugly word) to start a great gossiping forest fire.
2. Countless of People have been hurt, destroyed, or burned by the words of others. Just like millions of dollars worth of damage can result from a careless match or cigarette thrown away without a second thought. We need to learn to guard our words, for they carry great destructive power.
b. Destructive words are like a poison in our mouth (“But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison” James 3:8)
1. Now I some people, not just people, but Christians folk that should have the XXX signs across their mouths, because there is much poison that spill out of our mouths.
2. Everywhere you go, these people vomit forth the worst kinds of gossip and destructive criticism. Little do they know that they are actually tools of the devil for destruction and turmoil?
c. Destructive words will pollute the very temple of your life (“Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be.” James 3:10)
1. You cannot separate your words from your character for they are the same.
2. If you want to know what kind of heart a man has, listen to the words that he speaks and eventually he will reveal his true character.
II. Your words should give an expression of your faith! (“For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall Say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that these things which he Saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he Saith.” Mark 11:23)
a. If you notice in this verse, the word “believe” is only mentioned 1 time, but the word “say or saith” is mentioned 4 times.
1. Most, if not all of us know the value of believing God but we have not emphasized the “saying” part that Jesus emphasized here in this verse. They have this “silent,” “safe” kind of faith, and will not say what they believe God will do for them.
2. Their attitude is that they will say it when they get it but this is not the Bible kind of faith. Jesus emphasized here that we must Say something to the mountain Before it actually moves.
b. It is real important i9n what you say!
1. As I said before, WE MUST SAY WHAT GOD’S WORD SAYS AND STOP SAYING WHAT THE DEVIL AND THE WORLD SAYS! It is not enough to simple believe the Word in our hearts but we must put the words to our faith.
2. You can overcome the devil in two ways: by the Blood of the Lamb, and the Words of your testimony.
c. Your words either Confirm your Faith or they will Deny your Faith!
1. Your words should agree with what God has already spoken in His Word and then you should refuse to be moved by circumstances that may arise. Someone said, “I am not moved by what I see or feel or hear but I AM MOVED ONLY BY WHAT GOD’S WORD SAY!”
2. You cannot believe in your own heart and deny with your mouth because what you say with your mouth rules you.
d. It is not enough to just believe a thing but you must express that belief by saying something!
1. This is the part of faith that we have never understood. Heb. 11:1 tells us, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
2. In the area of divine healing, why do I need faith if I am not going to confess healing until after the symptoms have gone away and the pain is gone? You don’t need faith it that point because you can see and feel that you are healed.
YOU MUST CONFESS YOUR HEALING BEFORE YOU WILL EVER RECEIVE THE PHYSICAL EVIDENCE OF HEALING!
Closing: If you truly believe it, go ahead and say it and refuse to waver from your confession!
