Luke 19:42, John 14:27, Revelation 1:17 (NLT)
If you could have anything in the World what would it be? For me it would be peace, not just any peace, but a total peace that comes only from the Prince of Peace. What must we do to have this peace? We must obey Jesus and hate sin.
In Luke Jesus says, “I wish that even today you would find the way of peace. But now it is too late, and peace is hidden from you”. Why is the peace of God hidden from us today, because we serve other gods? Do you have something taking priority over Jesus in your life today? Your answer right now may be no, but if you don’t have the peace of Jesus at this moment, the answer must be yes. In this passage Jesus is sobbing over Jerusalem because their god is religious pride. Isn’t it strange that we can be blinded by religion, but Christianity is not about religion, it is about a close and personal relationship with Christ? We must take responsibility for our blindness and lack of peace. God holds each of us accountable for our sins and these sins hide the peace of Jesus from us. Jesus has a deep and endless sadness of what could have been for us if we would have yielded totally to Him. God uses these could-ofs to aid us in our future spiritual growth. If we don’t grow, there will be times of sorrow and rebuke without peace from the Prince of Peace.
Ask Jesus to show you the way of His peace today.
In John Jesus says “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn’t like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid”. Whenever and whatever Jesus speaks becomes reality, it comes alive in you and though you. Have you ever experienced the living peace of Jesus, the peace that is accompanied by a word of praise from our Lord and Savior, the Prince of Peace? Many of you are troubled or afraid this morning. Your problems are pressing in on you and you don’t know where to turn. Have you ever considered turning to Jesus? Look up and receive the calm and blessed assurance that only Jesus can give you. You say that you are a Christian, you have made Jesus your Savior, but have you made Him your Lord? If you have then you have peace, if not there can be no true peace in your life. If you try to worry away your troubles, you are not in the will of Jesus. When we have troubles, we need to turn to Jesus. When we turn to Jesus troubles go away, chaos stops, because with Jesus there is no worry or chaos, there is only His peace, a peace that surpasses all understanding, and must be experienced to understand it.
So don’t be troubled or afraid ask Jesus for His peace.
In Revelation John and Jesus share, “When I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. But he laid his right hand on me and said, “Don’t be afraid! I am the First and the Last”. We might know Jesus intimately, but when He comes to us in His Majesty, all any of us can do is to fall at His feet as if we were dead. You see sometimes God reveals Himself to us in this way to remind us that no matter what our circumstances, He is and will always be in control, and when we are afraid, He reaches down with His hand of blessing and says, “Don’t be afraid!” then we realize there must be times when we must prostrate our will before Jesus so we may experience His touch and become supernaturally empowered to do the great and wonderful things He has called us to do in His name.
Jesus is the first and last answer for unending peace.
May God richly bless you with His Word.
