CAST ALL YOUR CARE UPON THE LORD FOR HE CARES FOR YOU
I Peter 5:7
7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
1.CONFIDENCE
God wants us to cast all our care upon Him because He cares for us.We do not have to be bowed down with burdens and cares because God will bear them for us. The disciples were travelling in a boat with Jesus when they faced a fierce storm and feared for their lives.They woke up Jesus and asked ’Master dont you care that we are perishing ?’.Jesus arose and stilled the storm and then asked the disciples ’why are you fearful ? How is it that you have no faith ?’. He wanted the disciples to have faith instead of fear and panic. God wants us to have confidence in Him when we face storms in our life.

Mark 4:35-41
35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.”
36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him.
37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling.
38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.
40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”
41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”
2.CARE
God wants us to cast all our care upon Him . He does not want us to be worried about anything .He wants us to make our requests known to Him through prayers and supplications with thanksgiving and then the peace of God which passes all understanding will rule our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus .God does not want us to live a restless life without peace. He wants us to enjoy His peace and joy even in the midst of difficult circumstances by making our requests known to Him.
SCRIPTURE REFERENCES
Philippians 4:6-7
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
3.CONCERN
God wants us to be concerned about His kingdom and His righteousness instead of being concerned about food and clothing like the ungodly people of this world. He is our Heavenly Father who knows all our needs. He who takes care of the birds and the flowers will surely take care of His people. When we seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness all these things shall be added to us. We need not worry about tomorrow because each day has sufficient troubles of it’s own.
SCRIPTURE REFERENCES
Matthew 6:25-34
25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;
29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
4.CURE
God wants us to cast all our cares about health upon Him because He heals us. Hezekiah was seriously sick and he got a message from God through Isaiah that he should get ready to die from his sickness. But Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and cried to God to remember his life of truth and goodness in the sight of God. God heard his cry and sent Isaiah back with the message of healing for him. Epaproditus ,a companion of Apostle Paul was sick unto death because he had laboured so hard for God without taking good care of himself. But God had mercy on him and healed him and restored Him back. We can cast all our care about health and cure upon the Lord because He heals us.
SCRIPTURE REFERENCES
II Kings 20:1-6
1 In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, “Thus says the Lord: ‘Set your house in order, for you shall die, and not live.’ ”
2 Then he turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the Lord, saying,
3 “Remember now, O Lord, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what was good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
4 And it happened, before Isaiah had gone out into the middle court, that the word of the Lord came to him, saying,
5 “Return and tell Hezekiah the leader of My people, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord.
6 And I will add to your days fifteen years. I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for My own sake, and for the sake of My servant David
Phillipians 2:25-30
25 Yet I considered it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker, and fellow soldier, but your messenger and the one who ministered to my need;
26 since he was longing for you all, and was distressed because you had heard that he was sick.
27 For indeed he was sick almost unto death; but God had mercy on him, and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.
28 Therefore I sent him the more eagerly, that when you see him again you may rejoice, and I may be less sorrowful.
29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness, and hold such men in esteem;
30 because for the work of Christ he came close to death, not regarding his life, to supply what was lacking in your service toward me.
5.CURSE
God wants us to cast all our care about curses upon Him because He blesses us. Jabez began his life in sorrow. He lived a life of curses. But he was determined to change his destiny. He wanted to live a life of blessing. He called on God to bless Him and enlarge his territory. He wanted the hand of God to be with him. He wanted God to keep him from evil that it may not grieve him. And God granted that which he requested. God lifts the poor out of the dunghill and sets them among the princes. We need not settle for a life of failure and defeat and curses because we have a God who blesses us.
SCRIPTURE REFERENCES
I Chronicles 4:9-10
9 Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.”
10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my [d]territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested.
6.CONFLICT
God wants us to cast all our care about the conflicts and battles that we face upon Him because He gives us victory. Jacob was facing danger and conflict with his brother Esau who was coming with 400 men towards Jacob. Jacob had cheated his brother of his birth right and his father’s blessing and Esau was filled with wrath and fury towards him. Jacob realised that God was his only hope in this conflict. He wrestled all night and was determined that he would not give up unless God blessed him. Finally Jacob got what he wanted .God changed his name to Israel which meant ’ a prince who prevails with God and men’. We must cast all our cares about our battles and conflicts upon God because He is the one who gives us victory.
SCRIPTURE REFERENCES
Genesis 32:24-28
24 Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day.
25 Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him.
26 And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.” But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!”
27 So He said to him, “What is your name?” He said, “Jacob.”
28 And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.”
7.COMFORT
God wants us to cast all our care upon Him because He comforts us.Sometimes we do not get what we want because God has a different purpose. Apostle Paul prayed three times for God to remove a thorn which was troubling Him. But God did not remove the thorn but comforted him by promising that His grace will be sufficient for him and His strength will be made perfect in weakness. God had a purpose for that thorn which was to keep him humble. Removing the thorn would have been dangerous for Apostle Paul as it might have made him vulnerable to pride because of the great revelations that were given to him.We have a comfort in all our trials that God would not test beyond our strength and would help us bear it by making a way of escape for us. His grace will be sufficient for us.

II Corinthians 12:7-10
7 And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.
8 Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.
9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
I Corinthians 10:13
13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
