Rom 3:23 says,
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
When I started my Christian life, I had a number of questions in my mind. One question was, how is it possible that through the sacrifice of Jesus, my sin would be washed away? I have sinned today in this 20th century. But Jesus died 2000 years back, that is before my birth and my sinning. How can loan repaid before it is taken?
The Holy spirit spoke to me in a different way. I did not hear such a sermon, yet.
In Hebrew 7:4-10 Bible Says, Levi gave tithe to Melchisedec when he was still unborn!
Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.
And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:
But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.
And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.
And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.
And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.
For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.
When Melchisedec met Abraham, Levi was yet in Abraham’s loins. Levi is born after more than 150 years after the incident. He is grand-grand-son of Abraham. To Abraham Issac was born, and to him Jacob was born and to him Levi was born. Still Bible says, he was yet in the loins of his grand-grand-father, when Melchisedec met him. It is a wonderful knowledge.
This reminds me when my grandfather was a young boy I was within him. Even,my son Daniel was within him. Not only in him, but in his father, grand-father and in Noah, and Adam. Yes, spiritually we all were within Adam when he was created.
In Job 38:4-21 we see Lord says, Job was born at the time of creation!
Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.
Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?
Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;
When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?
When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it,
And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors,
And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?
Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place;
That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?
It is turned as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment.
And from the wicked their light is withholden, and the high arm shall be broken.
Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?
Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?
Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if thou knowest it all.
Where is the way where light dwelleth? and as for darkness, where is the place thereof,
That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, and that thou shouldest know the paths to the house thereof?
Knowest thou it, because thou wast then born? or because the number of thy days is great?
Because thou wast then born? We know job lived in app. 1500 BC. But Adam sinned in app. 4000 BC. Lord says before Adam sinned, that at the time of creation, Job was born.
When we go to the creation passage. We see in Genesis 1:26-27 when Adam was created, the entire mankind was created.
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
See the word ‘them’ that is plural. We know first Adam was created and Eve was separated from him later. When Eve sinned nothing happened, Only she dies. But when Adam sinned the entire mankind ‘within him’ sinned.
We know after the sixth day, there is no reference about creation. The creation process is complete. In fact all were created in Adam. From him all generations started. Now the generations are revealed. For example let us look at an onion. The outer leaf is visible to us now. If we remove this, we will see another, and likewise. The generations are revealed like that but we were created on the 6th day when Adam was created.
This is what the Bible says, For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
When has a baby, who is taking birth today, sinned? The answer is ’in Adam’.
We all have died in Adam. For example, a pregnent lady took poison, she died and her child within her also died. Entire mankind is spiritually dead, even before our physical birth. Therefore Jesus says, in John 10:10 ....I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Yes Jesus came to give us life, to these dead ‘bodies’.
In Ezekiel 37:5 Lord says, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:
I was wondering why Jesus cried at the tomb of Lazarus! In fact he knew that Lazarus will live and he is going to do a miracle. He had said it to his disciples earlier. To my mind he was seeing ‘dead state’ of the entire mankind in Lazarus. So he cried and there was reason to cry.
Yes, He has paid for the sin which came to us through Adam, not only to Christians but to all hindus, Moslems and all. But they cannot get it till they accept Jesus Christ as their personal savior. The power is given to each us to become son and daughter of God which we have lost in Adam. John 1:12-13
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Jesus says, in John 3:17-19
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
The entire world is under comdemnation, and the only way out is Jesus!
