SALVATION OF JESUS CHRIST
“The hope of this world”
Text : Romans 5: 1-12
Definition of hope; Too desire with expectation of fulfillment.
I. Men hopes here in this world.
A. As children we start building hopes
1. Gifts at holidays and our birthdays.
2. Bicycles
3. Amusement parks
4. Car
5. Dating
6. College
B. As adults our hopes changes and are more depth in planning
1) Careers- Employment
2) Marriage
3) Homes
4) Children
5) Retirement
6) Traveling and Vacations
C. Many of men hopes are for better things in their lives than they have experienced:
1) Better financial than when they grew up
2) Better homes than they had growing up.
3) Better education for their children.
4) Not wishing their children to make the same mistakes as them.
D. Many hopes of men are never fulfilled.
1) The gift that you desired, you did not received.
2) The car you had in mind was not affordable.
3) The one you wanted to marry did not feel the same as you.
4) The house you wanted was not available.
5) Your corporation closed their doors before you could retire.
6) Death came along.
JAMES 4:14 “ Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow . For what is your life? It is even as vapor that appeareth for a little while and vanishes away”
JAMES 4:15 “ For that ye ought to say, If the lord will, and do this and that.”
JOB 14:1 “ Man that is born of a woman is of few days full of trouble”
II. Man hopes, in this present world, has been driven by worldly lusts, imaginations and possessions of this world. I go to achieve what I desire no matter the morality, as long as my hopes are achieved.
GOD said the imagination of a man heart is evil from his youth.
A. No answers to GOD that why prayer was taken out of the schools. Man does not what to be under God or recognize any higher power than man himself.
B. Man wants to fill every lust their heart desires with no reprimand. Whether it be an abominations unto GOD and totally immoral or not. Homosexuality and lesbians is taking this nation and destroying the very foundation of GOD plan for man and his family. Pornographic materials and sexual misconduct with children is filling this nation.
C. Man wants to control life and give it and takes it he seems fit. The United States abortion rate is now at 1/3 of babies being conceived is being aborted. With further studies in stem cell research. Man will be able to change the sex of a fetus from a male to a female. Man wants to create their version of man.
What hope do we have in this world, United States, and even in our church world today?
I Timothy 1:1 “GOD OUR SAVIOUR, AND LORD JESUS CHRIST, WHICH IS OUR HOPE”. THE SALVATION OF JESUS CHRIST IS THIS WORLD IS OUR ONLY HOPE.
III. In this past week, many hopes of good, moral, and decent people, were crushed by the bombing of the World’s Trade Center, The pentagon, and the crashing of the plane in Pennslyvania.
A. Families were left father and motherless. Children were killed.
B. Our peaceful nations as we knew it changed.
C. Realization sets in “ we are not infallible”
1. Did not heed to warnings. Could not take the time to make sure all was secure. No time for the inconvenience of checking out something that just does not seem right. Time passing by quickly and we are in a hurry to accomplish our hopes. September 11,2001 Hope stood still as disaster struck costing us beyond imaginable.
2. Now our hopes change to conquering the enemy. Making him pay for his unspeakable act.
3. We are calling for unity to comfort the victims, send aide to those in need, and find and destroy the enemy. These are all good and just. But does it bring life. I am for helping and comforting them that are in need. But our hope of accomplishing this is in CHRIST JESUS.
IV. The fight against terrorism:
Terrorism: The act or practice of terrorizing. To cause terror. A revolution to overthrow a government or change the ways of a nation.
A. President Bush and Congress plan to announce war on terrorism. An enemy that is all over the world. An enemy who can not be seen and has no place as his true home.
B. Ben Laden is the enemy and must be brought to justice. I agree but when he is destroyed there are hundreds more to take his place that are more fierce.
C. The true fight is against sin and the father of all sin, Satan. For he is the destroyer of life. The true terrorism leader. The cause of men and children to lose all hope, joy, and peace.
Romans 6:23 “ For the wages of sin is death”
I Peter 5:8 “ Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking when he may desire.”
Job 10:10 “And the lord said unto satan, whence camest thou? Than satan answered the lord and said from going to and fro in the earth and from walking up & down in it.
V. Our only hope in conquering the enemy is in CHRIST JESUS. HE IS OUR SALVATION AND OUR HOPE FOR LIFE.
JOHN 10:10 “The Theif cometh not, but to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life and have it more abundantly.
JESUS CHRIST came and lived and died that we might have atonement for our sins – sacrificial lamb- so GOD would forgive our transgression. That all man may come free from the bondage of sin and the terror of satan.
Resurrected and glorified so we that serve and confess him might have eternal life our hope in glory.
VI. Our text is long in getting to but it is our very hope that we have in CHRIST.
A. In verse 1 being justified in faith means being aqquitted of all sins and transgression against GOD. This brings peace to your inward man. Just knowing you have peace with your maker. Who controls whether you live or die. We are justified and in the presence of GOD through the glorified body of JESUS CHRIST.
B. Verse two in whom we access to GOD. Talk about having Hope and answer to all your problems. We through the faith in JESUS CHRIST can come boldly to the throne of GOD through the body of JESUS CHRIST. His grace ( divine favor and love) GOD was so pleased with his son and we make up his body, his glory and are now GOD divine favorites. Therefore we stand in his presence, and rejoice in our hope in knowing that one day we shall forever be with the lord. We shall inherit a glorified body.
C. And not only to glory in our hope and bless assurance of forever dwelling with GOD. But in tribulations, by overcoming temptations and worldly lust, and sorrows. By knowing we are GOD’s children and he will put nothing on us that we can not stand. Knowing this tribulations worketh patience. Patience is waiting humbly for GOD to answer. LAMENTATIONS 3:21-26 “ QUICKLY WAIT FOR THE SALVATION OF THE LORD” Looking unto JESUS our author and finisher of our faith. Who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of GOD” HEBREWS 12:2
D. Patience worketh experience ( greater wisdom, knowledge ) which leads to greater assurance and HOPE in the salvation, saving plan of CHRIST.
ROMANS 8:24 “For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: For what a man seeth why doth he yet hope for it.”
ROMANS 8:25 “ But we hope for that we see not, then we with patience wait for it.”
E. Because of our hope in CHRIST and his resurrection power. Through that same spirit that quicken JESUS from the grave lives with in us. We are not ashamed to be Christians and suffer for his name’s sake. For by our hope we are assured we will be glorified far beyond any suffering or heartaches we endure down here.
F. When we were helpless to sin and satan CHRIST died for us just in time.
G. Scarely for a righteous man will one die. It would be hard to die for your Pastor. Even still for a member of the church down the road.
H. But GOD love was toward all men. So all could come and drink of the wells of salvations. While we were neither righteous or good but full of sin trangression against GOD his father he died cruelty so we may have life for eternal.
I. Therefore through such love as for us as sinners. That he purchased out of slavery to sin with his blood and united us in his body for the glory of GOD. Then how much more now will he keep from us all the wrath to come. For CHRIST will not pour his wrath on his own body. GOD will not pour his wrath upon his SON body. This is our assurance our hope. The blessed hope of the glory of GOD. To be saved from his wrath upon the evils of this world.
J. For then we were enemies of GOD and reconciled back to GOD through CHRIST death. Now how much more after being reconciled to him. Will he save us from the torment and judgements of this world. The pits of hell. We shall be saved through CHRIST JESUS. Being purchased and brought back in his image in which we were created. This is our Joy and Hope through all hardships and trials.
GENESIS 1:26 “ and GOD said let us make man in our own image, after our likeness.” GOD glory is when the creation or creature his brought back to purpose for which we were created. To live holy unto GOD, always abounding in life, having rule over all dominions and walking with him daily. Sin diminished the creature but Jesus Christ in the creature is glorified unto the creators. True hope is knowing the purpose for your creation and working patiently to obtain it.
PSALMS 33:18-22
Your only today is in the atoning blood of JESUS CHRIST. Please come to him confessing him Lord and master of your life. Asking for forgiveness with your whole heart repenting. He will be faithful and will keep you. Your hope will be in knowing that you will always have life . Either by death or the resurrection of the saints from this earth. Hope of life and purity of life only comes through JESUS.
TITUS 1:2 “ In hope of eternal life, which GOD, that can not lie, promised before the world was.
TITUS 2:13 “ Looking for the blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great GOD and our Lord Saviour JESUS CHRIST.
PROVERBS 11:7 “ When a wicked man dieth, his expectations shall perish. And the hope of unjust men perish.”
EZEKIEL 18: 23 “ Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked shall die? Saith the lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways and live?
PROVERBS 13:12 “ Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.
