THE CALLING OF GOD
II TIMOTHY 1:8-9
The Calling of God is so Important because we live in a world where God’s Calling doesn’t matter any more. It is God who calls and it is God who gives direction. We have too many who go into the Ministry for the Wrong Reasons. That is why it is so important that we not only hear the Call of God but we must also obey this calling. There are things most important points I need to bring out about the Calling of God before we go any further. They are:
1—God calls in Spite of the Lack of Credentials or Abilities:
I Corinthians 1:26-29--For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence.
Ø God used a Raven to feed a man.
Ø God used a Great Whale to get a preachers attention.
Ø God used a Donkey to tell a man the truth.
2—God’s Call is Based on our Availability, not our Ability:
Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
Ø God will never use anyone who thinks they know it all.
Ø God will teach us all the we need to know.
Ø God will continue to give us knowledge as we need it.
3—God’s Call come with a Price:
Luke 21:17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake.
1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
Ø A person called of God will never be the same again.
Ø A person called of God will need spiritual strength more than ever.
Ø A person called of God can be the happiest person on earth.
Application: God may be calling you today. Once must remember that God does not call out of the Storm but out of that still small voice. Listen! For God is Calling.
