THE GREAT COMMISSION
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20 KJV)
I. THE DIRECTIVE IS PLAIN
“Go, teach, make disciples”
A. THE TEXT IS CLEAR.
B. A TASK HAS BEEN COMMITTED.
1. They are told where to go.
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and
preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15
a. To every region “All the world”
b. To every race “Every creature”
2. They are told what to do.
a. They are to teach the Scripture.
b. They are to train for service.
II. THE DUTY IS PERSONAL
“Go ye”
A. YOU CAN MAKE EXCUSES.
1. You may feel inadequate.
2. You may feel incompetent.
3. You may feel inferior.
B. YOU CANNOT ESCAPE IT.
1. It is useless to run.
2. It is useless to resist.
III. THE DYNAMIC WHICH IS PROVIDED
“Lo, I am with you always”
A. THE ASSURANCE YOU CAN HAVE.
1. He will be there to provide for you.
2. He will be there to protect you.
B. THE AUTHORITY YOU MUST YEILD.
1. We must recognize the lordship of Christ.
“All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”
a. He has the authority to commission.
b. He has the ability to control.
2. We must respond to the lordship of Christ.
The Lord is King! I own His power,
His right to rule each day and hour,
I own His claim on heart and will,
And His demands I would fulfil!
