QUIET TIME: ALONE WITH GOD
Mt 14:23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

I. THE CONTROL THE MASTER EXERCISED
“He sent the multitudes away.”
A. THE DEMANDS OF THE MULTITUDE.
“Great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.” Luke 5:15
1. They came to hear him.
a. Jesus spoke words of caution.
b. Jesus spoke words of counsel.
c. Jesus spoke words of comfort.
2. They came to be healed by him.
B. THE DISTURBANCE CAUSED BY THE MULTITUDE
“Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king,” John 6:15
1. They were excited.
a. They saw His power.
b. They saw His passion.
2. They were eager.
“To make him a king.”
a. Jesus read their mind.
b. Jesus recognized their motive.
II. THE CRITICISM THE MASTER EVOKED.
A. THE MISTAKE THEY MADE.
“They were going to take him by force.”
1. They failed to understand the nature of Christ’s
kingdom.
2. They were going to force him to be a king.
B. THEY MAY HAVE MISUNDERSTOOD HIS MOTIVE.
“Why is He sending us away?”
III. THE COMMUNION THE MASTER ENJOYED.
A. JESUS KNEW THAT TIME ALONE WITH THE
HEAVENLY FATHER WAS ESSENTIAL.
B. JESUS SPENT THAT TIME ALONE WITH THE
HEAVENLY FATHER TO LEAVE US AN EXAMPLE.
1. He wasn’t there to preach any messages, he was
there to pray.
2. He wasn’t there to perform any miracles, he was
there to pray.
You need a “Quiet Time” to be alone with God.
1. Choose a place.
2. Cherish the privilege. “To be alone with God.”
3. Consecrate this time for prayer.
