The Mirror of the Word
James 1:22-25
A - allows us to truly see a portion of ourselves in God’s eyes
1- We learn how to live His way.
James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
Gal 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them
who are of the household of faith.
2 - We learn God’s expectations.
B - we see what to change
Eph 4:28-29 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands
the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of
edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
1- actions 2 - speech - learned just in two verses -
Did you see yourself here? what will you do if you did?
C - why change - why obey the word?
(ELABORATE ON EACH OF THE FOLLOWING SCRIPTURES)
Rom 2:5-8 God; 6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and
immortality, eternal life: 8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth,
but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your
mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
I Jn 2:4-6 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the
truth is not in him. 5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected:
hereby know we that we are in him. 6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so
to walk, even as he walked.
CONCLUSION
Many have seen themselves in the mirror of the Word. Far less have allowed it to change them.
Today you have a choice - allow God’s Word to change you or choose to forget it.
