Spirtual Warfare
If you are a Christian and I say again if you are, when you gave your life to Jesus Christ you joined a war already in progress. As citizen in the kingdom of God, you are at war with the devil. But most of us professing Christians still believe and live in the natural state. And never realize that our lives are constantly engaged by evil. I think at this point it is very important that we go straight to the Bible and look at the scripture found in 2 Corinthians 4:4 “ In whom the God of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them”. The God of this world refers to Satan who holds power over and controls much of the activity of this present age. Those of us who do not submit themselves to Jesus Christ, strictly remain under the power of Satan.
Suddenly the enemy camps out on our doorstep, his parcel could be the flu and could have been delivered to every doorstep in the community. Knowing that Jesus died for your sicknesses and disease, in his name you can slam the door in the enemy’s face or you can choose to do nothing and effectively receive it. This is a small token of what I am talking about. The authority we assert over the enemy depends upon the victory Jesus won over Satan. No Christian defeats the devil on his or her own. We merely appropriate and administer the victory Jesus won. Even if we pray for a person and a demon comes out, it’s not me it is Jesus in me. This is a small token of what I am talking about. The authority we assert over the enemy depends upon the victory Jesus won over Satan. No Christian defeats the devil on his or her own. We merely appropriate and administer the victory Jesus won. “Christ in you, the hope of glory”, (Col. 1:27) we are merely enforcing the victory over the power of the enemy.
Although Jesus triumphed over Satan, He expects God’s people to enforce the victory. After Jesus rose from the grave, He had this to say to His disciples: “ All authority in Heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of age”. It’s our decision whether or not to exercise the authority Jesus obtained over Satan. Jesus’ authority doesn’t do us any good unless we appropriate it.
In spiritual warfare you have to be aggressive in praise, aggressive in prayer, aggressive in proclaiming the Word of God. Without an aggressive counterattack, the devil ain’t gonna get you nothing but killed in the kingdom of God.
You might thing you’re the toughest character since Rambo taking on the powers of Hell but unless you have the right weapon you will be defeated. Paul writes “for though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh (2 Cor. 10:3). They’re not fleshly, natural weapons that can be held or touched. “for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds; casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ”.(2 Cor. 10:4-5).
We have a tremendous assignment before us, Paul writes, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Eph.6:12). Most Christians stop at the phrase, for we wrestle not. They say to themselves “We ain’t gonna wrestle”. When you refuse to wrestle, you settle for whatever life or the enemy hands you.
Praying in the Spirit is one of our strongest weapons, stronger that any bomb ever designed, one prayer armed with the power of God can defeat a nation, heal a loved one, changed the course of history, save that child that mother or dad has been praying so long for or even heal someone in a distant land.
Put on your Gospel armor and continue to take back what belongs to us that the devil stole. (Mat. 11:12) “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.”
Our daily walk with Christ must be spiritual in all aspects of our life to be victorious against the trails and tribulations that the evils of Satan brings into our life, be prepared, be ready and be willing to do your part to overcome the power of Satan and know with all our heart “If God be fore us, who can be against us”.
