In Genesis 4:12, we see the first example of a vagabond person. It says, "When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shall thou be in the earth." Deuteronomy 21:18 - 21 says, "If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them. (That is, the person is a vagabond child) Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him and bring him out to the elders of the city and unto the gate of his place. And they shall say unto the elders of the city, this our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice, he is a glutton and a drunkard. And all the men of the street shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shall thou put evil away from among you and all Israel shall hear, and fear."
In Psalms 109:10, we see how serious the vagabond problem is. It is a terrible curse. It says, "Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places." In Acts of the apostles 19: 13- 16, we have an interesting story. It says, "Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew and chief of the priests which did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know, but who are you? And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of their house naked and wounded." Here, we see vagabond jews being attacked. That is the reward of the vagabond.
Now let us look at the master vagabond. Job 1: 6-7 says, "Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and satan came also among them. And the Lord said unto satan, Whence comest thou. Then satan answered the Lord and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it." So, all vagabond anointing is from the master vagabond. 1 Peter 5: 8 also says, "Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour."
Luke 15:11- 15 says, "And he said, A certain man had two sons. And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me and he divided unto him his living." (The younger of the two sons persuading his father to divide the estate between them while he was still alive.) And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. (He went to a far land where he lived a life of immorality and then poverty overtook him.) And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. And he went and joined himself to a citizen of the country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine." When he had lost everything, famine arose and he, the son of a rich man was reduced to feeding pig. This is the result of the vagabond anointing that was upon his life.
We can pick a few lessons from the experience of the prodigal son.
1. A vagabond is always a sorrowful person. Sin will bring sorrow always and it never fails to find men out. It may not be in a dramatic way but at the end of the day, the sin of a man will find him out.
2. The vagabond spirit causes demotion. The son of a rich man started to feed pigs and for a Jew brought up in a proper Jewish family, no greater humiliation can be directed at him. The job made him ceremonially unclean and brought him shame.
3. A sinner is always in a far country.
4. Vagabond people are always very selfish.
WHAT IS ANOINTING?
Anointing is a supernatural thing. It is a supernatural equipment that enables you to achieve supernatural results. It is the ability to do things without sweating. God does not have counterfeit materials neither does He give them to people. These are the last days and many evil things are happening. The Bible has a very bad picture for the last days. It says that men’s heart shall fail them for fear, many false Christs and many false prophets shall arise. Many shall be lovers of themselves, lovers of money and haters of good things. The Bible also says that in the last days, the devil will increase his activities. He will release terrible spiritual bullets on the human race. Now we hear that divorce rate has gone up tremendously, boys are taking to drugs and it is now very rare to find somebody who is still a virgin at the age of 20.
The book of Luke says that it will get to a time when the heart of men will fail for fear but we need to be successful in whatever warfare we are fighting no matter how fierce the battle is. The enemy will make some progress because of sin. One of the reasons the enemy has so much control over many lives is because they have found it difficult to forsake their sin. When a person constantly repeats a particular sin, satan will take up his abode in that area of the person’s life. As a family continues to repeat a sin, the devil will use that area to get them. It could be the spirit of worry, fear, sexual sin, laziness, abusive tongue, etc. He will use these sins as his base.
The vagabond spirit is the spirit that makes a person live an irregular life or a wandering life. The person goes from one place to the other with no fixed purpose, an aimless life. A lot of people are operating under the influence of the vagabond spirit. God created the earth in six days and rested on the seventh day and God expects us to be able to rest in Him. But those under the vagabond anointing are restless in their spirit. People under vagabond anointing wander from city to city, from job to job, from house to house, from marriage to marriage, etc. They are never able to really settle down.
People under the vagabond anointing are always tormented by the spirit of poverty. When a person is under the vagabond anointing, the spirit of poverty finds it easy to move in. This will give rise to so many other things which includes restlessness, confusion, financial bondage, depression, loneliness, hopelessness, suicidal thoughts, sorrow and grief.
The vagabond spirit makes people to waste their investments. Nothing they lay their hands on works out. The person may have B.Sc. in Economics, Masters in Philosophy and Ph. D in Accounting, yet nothing prospers. It is this vagabond anointing that is responsible for lack of focus. A lot of people are not focused, that is why the devil is able to do so much havoc. A person that was meant to settle down to sell vegetables is busy looking for an office job. No focus. When the devil knows that you are in a wrong place, he would attack whatever you are doing. One of the greatest mountains that one faces is the mountain of ignorance.
The vagabond anointing is responsible for a person to fish and catch nothing in the sea of life. If this anointing is on somebody, it does not matter how far the person roams, he could travel around the world, he won’t be able to make a headway. It is pity that so many are suffering. When a medical doctor has been reduced to serving food in a bar abroad in order to survive, it is vagabond anointing. When a man with a Ph.D is busy sweeping the floor at the railway station, it is vagabond anointing.
The vagabond anointing is responsible for the lack of direction and aimlessness in so many lives. The devil himself is a vagabond and he likes to distribute that anointing. It is also responsible for what we call double left hands. Many people have double left hands in the spirit and because of that, there is no way they can handle things as well as somebody who has a right hand and a left hand.
The vagabond anointing is responsible for slippery blessings, unstable breakthroughs and confusion. As this year is rolling by, will you say from your heart of heart that you have got all that the Lord wants for you this year? Beloved, if you find that the vagabond spirit is operating in your life, it is not late. If you should call upon the Lord, you will be saved. The bad thing about the vagabond anointing is that it generally enters through the invitation of another spirit.
Perhaps as you are reading this message, you find that your mind wanders, you need to pray.
A long time ago, a certain man came to our meeting and was crying. He cried so much after the service that I felt sorry for him. I asked him what was the matter and he said, "This is a very wonderful fellowship. You have good message, good praise worship and good testimonies but you spoilt everything with speaking in tongues. Then I told him that he needed deliverance from the vagabond anointing.
Inability to concentrate especially during prayers and Bible study is a sign that the vagabond anointing is in place. So, if you are the kind of person who would open your Bible to read and before you know it, you sleep off, or as you are reading it, something else is coming to your mind, know that the vagabond anointing is upon you. Remember that small things steal away big things. A little thing could make a person to lose a life-time opportunity.
Impatience attracts vagabond spirits. The vagabond spirit is upon those who are impatient therefore they cannot just wait upon the Lord. They want to go from place to place.
Many people cannot rest. If they are not cooking, they would be washing. To sit down and listen to a sermon is a problem. They always find something to do. Such people run mad easily and people would wonder what happened to them. Some will say, "Well, the Spirit of God says I should keep moving." And usually I would ask them: "into what?" They resign their jobs without praying about it. These are signs that the vagabond spirit is in control.
Some men move from one woman to another, this is also a part of vagabond anointing. Some people marry through journals. They would write to editors saying, "Dear editor, I am looking for a lady, six feet tall, minimum of masters degree, beautiful, very smart. If you find anyone, contact me at this address." It is a sign of vagabond anointing.
Recently, I saw the obituary of a woman in the newspaper. All her six children were fathered by different men. The vagabond anointing was upon her. Some people have gotten to the level of walking in their sleep. As they are sleeping, they walk about. Sometimes they wake up physically, go into the kitchen, take a glass of water, walk back to their beds and continue sleeping without knowing Sometimes, some people see themselves travelling about with no destination in their dreams. They just jump into their beds and start travelling. They do not know when the journey would end. These are all signs of the vagabond anointing. If you are always dreaming of climbing staircases but never get to the end of these staircases, it is the work of vagabond anointing upon your life.
Immediately, some people collect their salary, they would see themselves distributing money in the next dream they would have. And that would be the end of the physical money they have collected. They would rush into any business that they hear about. They would have no direction. I am unhappy to tell you that the vagabond spirit has totally enveloped a lot of Nigerians and we need to pray.

1. I dismantle every stronghold of vagabond anointing in my life, in the name of Jesus.
2. I break every vagabond anointing upon my life, in the name of Jesus
3. My Father, rearrangement my life to suit your purpose, in the name of Jesus.
4. O Lord, let your kingdom be established in every department of my life, in the name of Jesus.
5. I command frustration on every evil agent assigned against my breakthrough, in the name of Jesus.
6. None of my breakthroughs shall disappear this year, in the name of Jesus.
7. I refuse to be wasted, in the name of Jesus.
